need help with electric fans

i was wondering if anyone knows what wire to hook the fans to on a 2002 silverado with a 5.3L engine.i have installed two fans with a thermostat but want to hook one to come on when the a/c is turned on and have it stay on. if i hook it up to the green wire on the clutch it comes on and off all the time

the green wire is the + control lead on the clutch, but you need a diode between the green wire and the fan control. i dont remember part numbers, but i just went to radio shack and got the largest 12 diode they had, which a pack of three os only like 2 bucks or so. (btw, a diode is a "one-way gate for electricity")
