This one is really something else! No doubt it is coming, a few facts about it, like the Duramax/Allison powertrain have been announced, but absolutely NO spy photos an no release date other than 'sometime in 2018'. I did hear the program is on budget and on shedule, which is good news,

Is it possible they're using International bodywork for the mules & nobody would be the wiser? Not that I'll ever be in the market for one, it'll be good to see the bowtie on some bigger trucks.

I am hearing from a reliable source there will be 4X4 models.

I have heard very little about the specifics of the International version.  I do believe the spy photos we have seen so far are of the International based on the design and shape of the grill (close resemblance to the DuraStar).  It may not be all that different from the Chevy.  Last I heard the International version will be called the 'CV' series, in line with International's new truck series designations.

To sum up, these are my 'educated guesses' regarding the new truck's features so far:

Straight frame rails, I-beam front axle on leaf springs.

Modified Silverado cab, composite tilt front hood/fender assembly (great feature, just like a medium/heavy truck).

L5P Duramax/Allison drivetrain exclusively at introduction.  Not exactly sure what model of Allison or how many speeds it will have.

Rumors of a gasoline/CNG/LNG engine option a year or two after introduction.

Chevy version will be named Silverado 4500/5500.  Not sure what the max. GVW will be of the 5500, but based on what I have seen in the spy photos I would not be surprised if it went to 25,000#'s GVW like the previous TopKick/Kodiak 5500 did.

Crew cab versions very likely.

Good chance the Chevy version might debut at the Work Truck Show in Indianapolis on March 6, 2018.  The trucks will likely be 2019 MY and go on sale a bit later in the year.

Sound like some good guestimates.  Tilt forward hood is an interesting potential feature.  Makes it seem like these are a "scaled down" TopKick/Kodiak style truck.  GM has a busy year ahead of them.

I posted  something the other day but i think it did not go thru.  You would think that GM would just build i new line up of trucks with the amount of time they spent on the 4500 5500 and surprised every one with a 6500  why did they not just make the other two 7500 and 8500 ?  have gvw from 35K down different engine options with a good gas engin in the mix as well has better towing on that 5500-6500 ? at least they made the 4x4 part of the current line up off the bat instead of waiting . .

you know the other odd thing  that go me thinking they are using the cab from the current line up of trucks  and it took them this long not like they had to redo that too only had to redo the hood.  for me it just seams like they should of had more done and better trailer towing  not like they had to build it from scratch engine was done except to tweek it cab done  and most likely frame too  . does anyone else feel like it took longer than it should with what you know now? and one other thing they just got ride of the cutaways van option with this cab just not set up right to do it .

I found out something interesting about the cabs on the new medium duty trucks.  Yes, they are going to use the current K2XX cab, but Navistar is actually going to produce the cabs in their Springfield plant.  I figure this is so the GM truck plants (like Fort Wayne) will not have to continue to build the existing cab after the next generation full size trucks (T1XX) come out.

The G van cut-away's are still available, including a 4500 series version.  Navistar builds those too.
