Headlight Illumination Issues

Recommended Posts

I am pleased to report that Putco Nite Lux LED lights will not melt your stock foglamp housings. The color temp is in the in the 6k range. They wash out the stock headlights when they're on. They light the side of the road. They light street signs from farther away than any headlamp I've ever used. They are not DOT approved.

I do not get flashed by divers in the opposite lane.

Got pics? How long have you been running them?

Yea! Go in for my upgrade next week. Will keep my 9011's and hand them the 9012's. Will give my opinion if the upgrade is better than 9011's.Will try vosla verses 9011's side by side. Will post the results.

. Update is done. Will compare tonight if not storming outside!

When everything is said and done and looking at different angles GM could have just retrofitted the 9011's. Had both trucks side by side, one with the 9011's and the other with the upgrade. No difference seen by two viewers. Both trucks will keep the aux add on lights. Hid's are another option. Spurshot made this call early on. It is what it is! Last thing to try is the 9011's with the upgrades higher voltage. Edited by WLC

I got my '14 GMC done last week and the difference is very noticeable. I even noticed more heat being emitted from the headlights.

It took the dealer roughly an hour to perform the swap and program the PCM.

If your truck still had the original 9012's there will be an improvement.I had replaced them with 9011's which are 10 watts more and cannot see any difference.

Yes, I had the 9012's. From what I understand the program update increases the voltage to the bulb.

I took my truck in this week for the new headlights and BCM flash. It is a significant improvement over the original headlights. A new bulletin has recently been issue (do not have the number), but it is PIT5374B. I appreciate the wealth of knowledge because my dealership did not have a clue.

Pictures attached of before and after. The biggest benefit was in the light output and color (whiter beam). The top two pictures are high beam and the lower two are low beam.

After a couple of months with the new lights, I am looking for a new solution. The new lights are great improvement over what was in there but, I am thinking of adding LED's for the fogs so I can get extra light there. I am also going to look into maybe mounting a small driving lights or a LED bar for when I need the extra light in High Beam mode.

I'm having mine done today - I asked the dealer to print out a copy of the bulletin for me (indeed, it is on version B now). I didn't have a chance to scan it last night but will do so tonight and upload for everyone.

First time posting here but I must say this forum is amazing. I want to thank everyone, any question I could have ever had regarding my 2014 Sierra Denali is fully covered within these forums.

Hey All:

In case anyone is interested (I know there are other links to this document floating around in the 1200+ posts in this thread), I uploaded PIT5374B to my Dropbox so anyone can download it to take to their dealer. My dealer initially played dumb saying he couldn't find the bulletin until I pulled out my copy and he went "OH! 5374, yea I got it right here." It helps to show up armed :)

They flashed my BCM no problem and installed the Vosla's (took like 3 days to special order the bulbs, they didn't have them in stock). Just picked my truck up today and haven't driven in the dark yet but I can assure you the correct bulbs have been installed. I'm a happy camper!

Here's the link:

Thanks again to everyone on this site! You guys rock!!

I just took delivery of my 2015 Denali. I don't know my build date but according to your service bulletin posted here anything built after January or February going forward has the BCM update.

However I think I have the old bulbs. I took a pic just now. Does this mean a simple bulb swap will yield the same result?
