Gibson Exhaust still leaking!!!!????

Recommended Posts

Magnaflow does the same thing, I cannot for the life of me get it to seat properly, I used a floor jack, 2 ratchet straps and a level and it is nice and tight at first but after maybe a week it is back to leaking. I have yet to go to a muffler shop to have a new flange welded on though.

I know the feeling. Gibson kept saying i wasnt doing it right haha. I said bud listen, im not an idiot. Ive got this thing on right. And i even had a few mechanics do it. In the end i had Lous Exhaust weld my flex pipe portion on and its been over a month or so, no issues.

I am also having other issues to where something broke inside the muffler and rattles pretty bad and I can't get Magnaflow to respond to anymore emails and calls but Summit Racing is stepping up and will exchange the whole kit after 1 year and 9 months with more than likely a Borla system. Hopefully they have the connection figured out.

I sold my Gibson and installed a Magnaflow catback, leak is gone.

Hopefully you have better luck than I did, mine sounded like total crap after a year and a half when something broke (weld or flex pipe or something) and rattled heavily at 1/3 throttle and higher. Left messages and emailed magnaflow several times for ideas on what might be wrong and try to fix but no response so I got rid of it for the Borla system. Either way, good luck.

Sorry to hear that, my Magnaflow system sounds really good. Fit and finish was great. The Gibson on the other hand I had to mod it to fit right and the exhuast leaked like crazy at the clamp past the cat. Good luck, hopefully Summit or Magnaflow steps up.
