Done Any Detailing and/or Paint Protection?

Recommended Posts

I just invested in Chemical Guys products (bought a torq with polish combo) and got a bunch of Microfiber cloths from the Rag Company. I have yet to use it as I just got it but one of my techs bought a black car and uses a mix of chemical guys and blackfire and dang that black car shines. Claybar done and everything. polishes it every other week and it stays clean.

main reason why i haven't yet is they messed up my order and only sent the Torq so it took a few extra weeks and a few emails to get the polish and pads.

gonna try it on the wife's equinox here when the weather gets less rainy then once i repaint the Sierra as I have terrible laminate issues I will be all over that joy.

I have a detailer install a ceramic coating. Very happy with it so far. Pricey, but lasts 5 years.

How much was it for the dealer to do? Some 3rd party auto detailing places local to me are quoting $1000-1200.

Anyone have experience with Opti-Coat ceramic paint coating?

I was contemplating doing one of these, Opti-coat is apparently good for 7 years?

So I spoke to my friend who owns a detail shop and does a lot of opti-coating. He quoted me $1500 to do my 2015 Sierra....WOW. With that said, what I guess I was under the impression of was that it was a protective barrier around my truck to keep my baby safe from dulling and scratches, etc. not quite....

One product is guaranteed for five years and the other for seven. He says basically it will look like it is always waxed but may need a touch up once in a while. But running it through automatic car washes will still scratch it like any other other car.

No thanks. I'll just do a real polish and detail yearly and call it good.
