Transmission fluid leak only when running.

Recommended Posts

How are you all doing. New to the forum. I own a 1993 GMC C1500 Sierra SLE 5.7L 2wd with tow package

The other day I was driving my truck to go get tools from work and I parked it and left it running. I came back to my truck and I noticed was a big sized puddle of transmission fluid. I tried looking for the leak but it was hard to tell where is was coming from and it was leaking at the time because the engine was off. so I drove it home and parked it.

Today I had the day off so I jacked up the truck and had the engine running and i noticed alot of fluid dripping on the floor at transmission area.

So I grab my light and crawled under and noticed the transmission cooler line fitting was puking trans fluid. 4b4e6815a430b5501345f7c45a425e5d.jpg

Located in the passenger side.

So now I found the issue it was time to get the part. The issue I had though that no one had one in stock except for napa

Part #NOE 7304988

And teflon tape.

Tools needed

1/2 wrench

18mm deep socket and ratchet

It is a tight space to get to these lines

So I start off by using the 1/2 wrench to remove the trans cooler flare nut. It is a tight space but you have enough room to break the nut loose and do the rest by hand.

Then use the 18mm deep socket and ratchet to remove the fitting

That's it! Put telfon tape on the threads and install the fitting and lines and, your done! No leak! Always take it in a test drive and re check it to make sure it's not leaking.c2afce9c9963173b814088d076754428.jpg

Hope this helps anyone who's having the same issues. Top and bottom fittings are the same The fix only costed me 10 bucks!
