Exhaust leak sound while under load

Recommended Posts

Ok, found it, you’re running a 5.3, try adding a tank of super adding some Lucas fuel stabilizer line cleaner, travel about 100 miles, then floor it a few times, reconnect

Mind does exactly this. I only noticed it after they replaced my motor mounts for rough idle so I think it might be exhaust related as it seems to quiet down when going over bumps. Haven't had any other time to investigate.

Other times it just goes completely quiet and stays that way for a while. Also seems like maybe the fuel pressure regulator is keeping the fuel pressure high under low load making the fuel event louder ? Sounds very similar to the injectors when at WOT.

Update on the “Marbles in Metal Can”;

This is only a partial—I need more time to ensure it’s not a placebo effect.

I filled up with 93 octane and I have been unsuccessful in making the sound repairs. My usual testing method involves any type of grade where load is put on the engine.

I’ll post again in another tank full of gas used.

Taking my truck to a shop on Friday to try and diagnose this issue. Mine has been getting louder. I will let you all know what they say.

Is there a way to know if my VIN is applicable for that TSB? My dealer said it's not but I feel like they don't know what they're doing.
