New OPT7 H11 LED Headlight Bulbs

Recommended Posts

My bulbs are oriented same as yours. I think I'm going to get the Alla Lighting LED Fogs. They're rated 4.5 stars on user reviews and the Opt7's are 3.5.

Are the fogs pretty easy to install?

Did you do the high beams also?

Fogs are simple, you can do that from under truck. Just plug and pop out.

I didn't do the Highs yet--I wanted to see what I thought of them as lows first. If I do high, I'm going to take the headlights out because it was a PITA when I swapped my halogen bulbs in high beams for ones that were supposed to be whiter.

I got these which look pretty close to ones you mentioned. They definitely are there and bright. I just can't see them. If you remember with your halogens, you could hit fogs and see little bit of light come on at lower end of your view--not with these LOL.

Take my input with a grain of salt since I don't have led lows but I have led fogs. DD xml2 h16 at 5000k.

https://www.diodedynamics.com/store/led-bulbs-1/listed-by-size/h16.html with just the headlights visibility is good but turn on the fogs and a major difference.

5 min replacement time and I notice a big difference. My lows aren't h11 as I did the h9 mod for more light til DD comes out with their new sl1 led which are supposed to be better than anything available

I changed the fogs out also...very pleased with the results

What fogs did you get? I can tell you the only benefit I got was that they're white. I literally cannot see a difference with them on or off while running Opt7 LEDs in my low beam LOL.

Hello Everyone,

After spending some time on the forums looking at everyones headlight replacements I finally chose the OPT7 LED H11 Headlight Bulbs off Amazon.com for $100 and thought Id share my experience with it so its easier for someone else to find what they are looking for. Like most, the first thing I did when I wanted a swap was to scour the forum for everyones experience. I saw some reviews that were good and some that were bad. Some people wanted HID, LED, Morimotos, and so on. My main priorities were this:

1) I want it to be white

2) Needs to look good

3) I don't want to blind people

4) Needs to last awhile

5) I don't go off roading much so light throw isn't TOO important

6) Needs to be at least as good if not better than stock.

7) Needs to be budget conscious

Thus, with those parameters I nixed projector retro fits. I narrowed it down to HID/ LED. After doing some research I found that due to light patterns and dispersement, the HID would most likely give me a scatter pattern where as the LED would give me closest to the stock cutoff while meeting my additional parameters.

This all being said I didn't expect it to be a 1 1/2 hour install. The lights worked fine once you figure out the right way to connect it all. The hard part however is removing everything and fighting the tiny space behind the light. There are two ways to do it also so I could have just removed the lights but I didn't really know what tools Id need and I did it in a parking stall at my apartment complex so I just went with the tight space. Not going to lie, it was tough. The space is really hard to maneuver and that was the hardest part for sure. Having done it, I could cut my time in half for sure but Chevy definitely didn't make this easy.

Ok so install was finally finished and the fruits of my labor realized. Initial thoughts on it:

1) Install was a pain in the butt.

2) The truck looks way better than stock, Chevy should have done this from the start.

3) The space behind the lights is a pittance. If you aren't nimble or have medium to small hands then don't even attempt it just take the lights off.

4) The LEDs only go in one way so that makes things easier.

5) Lights are for sure brighter than Stock but definitely not overpowering. (Will have night review later tonight)

6) The LEDs fit inside the light and the seal plugs just fine but it is tough. Additional thought, These LED have fans... if the fans are sealed inside of an airtight headlight... isn't it just circulating hot air? Any thoughts on this could be helpful.

7) The whole set up looks to be really good quality parts actually.

8) Light output coming tonight

*ADDITION*

9) Light output at night is approx 100-150 feet.

10) I didn't expect to like them as much as I did.

11) The output is a great color and at least double the stock output.

12) Plug and play I didn't have to adjust the lights at all.

13) Cut off is the same as stock.

Ok folks this wouldn't be much of a review if I didn't have some pictures for you! If you have any questions feel free to ask. I will be updating this post as it goes and if I have any issues with them at all, rest assured I will update this review with the issues noted.

I took some more photos. I aimed them using a wall and markings.

I was standing at my drivers door looking through my drivers window.

Just the low beams in this photo:

Here is just the fog lights. I'm not impressed with this. They're literally useless. They don't really add anything to overall light output.

Looks like the fogs fill in between the bottom of the low beams and the bumper. But that doesn't really do much. They also appear to be a different color temp than the Low beams.

Fogs aren't distance lighting. They are for what they say...fog...things that are closer to the vehicle. Drive in the winter on a snowy night ...with highs on its much harder to see since it captures all the snowflakes in the sky and distracts...lows the same not as bad..but the fogs in that condition aim down or at the bottom so as not to distract the driver

From the photo above, that's exactly what they are doing.

I may not have been clear. I know function of fogs.

The problem is that these light up an area you can't see. You can sit in drivers seat with lows on and cycle the fog lights--there is not a single change in what is lit up. It was more noticeable with the halogens. That whole area below the bottom cut off is not visible either.

I think the problem is that the fogs are a flood pattern with no throw. It doesn't get far enough out for you to see. There are a lot people on review saying the Opt7 fogs are nothing more than appearance. They don't provide any further lighting--not even in the manner a fog should.

Don't take what I wrote as being a jerk. I wasn't meaning to try to come off that way, if I did sorry. It seems the led tech so far is not where halo or hids are . I agree they get the color but not the performance. Lighting threads are so hard because a pic doesn't do what the viewer really sees. Sometimes a pic looks great but in reality is as bright as a flashlight. DD has an sl1 coming out, when I don't know, they said back in December. They say its supposed to be an led unlike anything out right now and said they will have them in types that fit our trucks.
