Color match bumpers...on 14-15 Sierra/Silverado

Would the silver color GMC uses be hard to match? I was thinking of having the chrome painted the silver color unless you guys think the black (like what surrounds the grille) would be a better match?

I have a silver gmc as well. Im a decent welder and I made a bumper for my 02 that everyone always asked me where I bought it. So anyway I'm considering making or buying a steel bumper and I can't decide whether black would look good for a front bumper with the silver or if color match is the way to go. Its a hard choice for sure

My local paint shops say it's not worth painting over the chrome, best is to blast it off and paint over and there quote is over 1k. The wrap guys say it will be about $400 but also don't want to do it cause they say it won't hold up for more than a couple years. They say the wrap adheres to paint way better than it does the chrome...I have a call in to a couple powder coating places...hopefully there price comes in decent as I know it will be the best option durability wise...just hope they can match the summit white

I plastidipped my front bumper, it's white so it wasn't hard to color match. 15 bucks and you can't tell the difference even up close. I used a lot of glossifier so it looks like paint.

For people who want to paint it, it's doable. Sand the crap out of it, use etching primer, sand it, base coat and clear it. 3-4 hours from beginning to finish. I did that with my 08 and it lasted for 3 years before I sold it.

That color looks almost dead on. I may order a 5ft x 2ft price and have the local shop here install it. We found a matte white but it just doesn't look right to me. Found the Avery gloss white sheets one bay for a decent price. So I'm gonna give it a try. Curious how it looks on a front bumper too

For those of you who live in northern climates and are thinking about painting your front bumper, make sure you get it covered in 3M film afterwards. These painted bumpers chip horribly. My front bumper looks like someone went to town on it with a shotgun (bought the truck last October).

How is the plastidip holding up? I can't decide on dip vs wrap

Pretty sure you need to reapply the plasti dip after winter. I know it will take a beating for sure. Vinyl wrap is your best bet unless you can find a paintable bumper to get rid of the chrome.

Its really close

Did you do the front bumper too? What was the cost and did the shop mention what the life expectancy of the wrap was???
