4l60 trans leaking

Recommended Posts

I have a 2002 extended cab 1500 silverado. has the 4.8 motor. had the trans rebuilt, blown clutch pack. it has about 1500 miles since it was rebuilt but has 3 years. yea not a lot of driving i know. well when i come to a stop it acts like the tires are spinning, traction control light comes on and motor rpm is lowered. been doing that for a while. now it is leaking fluid out the vent tube and is a quart over full but it was correct before this issue. I contacted the repair shop and got the run around. said I was way below the mileage but over the time frame for the warranty. bring it in and they will re.. rebuild it for 1500 bucks.

so my question is .. has any one heard of this issue? can i fix it myself for cheaper? myself i would say something electronic not mechanical. i can stomp it and the tires will spin so thinking trans is still strong. I have not drove the truck since aug because of the cost of the repair and here we are in march. i have done rebuilds in the mechanical trans of old but have not cracked an electronic one yet.

I have been looking and never seen this issue duplicated any where yet.

and yes i know the trans shop screwed me and dont stand behind their work.

any help would be appreciated .. thanks for reading Rodney

i did and it still does it. i see not having 1st gear because of the solenoids in different posts. i have been really doing data collection and analysts and was also wondering... could the problem of not having the shift down to first from second when stopping, be caused by sticking solenoids? with the new trans shifting requirements I am not sure what it has to see or do to down shift from second to first. that is when the traction light comes on and the issue happens. and forgot to post, after the light comes on and i try to take off from a stop. it feels like a neutral drop. light goes off and tires grab and normal till stop again. never a check engine light nor any codes.
