2016 Silverado sluggish in 1st and 2nd gear?

Recommended Posts

I have 2016 Silverado 1500 LT 4WD and it seems sluggish as hell in the 1st and 2nd gears. After that it runs like it should. I have 75,000 miles on it. So it’s good to here that I’m not alone with these problems. The A/C in mine isn’t the greatest I ever had. It’s not the worst either. My Silverado has climate control. I have it on 66 and it keeps it comfortable, but doesn’t run you out of the truck cold like my old  Nissan. This is the first and last time I get climate control.

Hello to all,

New to the forum but long time reader.

I just bought a 2016 Silverado Crew LT with the 5.3 in it yesterday to replace my aging 2008 Silverado extended cab.

I'm not saying there is anything wrong with the truck but it feels funny to me. It seems like when I take off under light acceleration from a stop light the truck seems like it doesn't have much power in first and second gear, then it hits third gear at about 25ish mph and I got all kinds of power.

Is this a normal feeling or is it something I should ask WTF at the dealership about? I know I'm starting off with 1 post with a dumb question, so my apologies in advance.

Thanks for any feedback,

Jeremy

I know this is an old thread but... I too feel my 2016 is rather sluggish starting off as well. I remember seeing a thread or 2 about turning off the stabilitrack. I will normally turn the stabilitrac off now because of that. Just last weekend, I was messing around trying to heat up my transmission to check the fluid level. I had the parking brake on and pressing hard down on the brake pedal with truck in gear. I noticed that rpms stayed low, maybe under 2k??? So I turned off the stabilitrac and pushed down on accelerator pedal and now it was trying to launch and much higher rpms. With stabilitrac off in traffic, I notice that it gets up and moves out much quicker. And this is without a tune.

Torque Management is keeping you from tearing it up. 😉 It's part of the factory tune. Imagine the warranty work reduction.
