Both Challengers have had Keyless go pushbutton start. Never caused me any problem in 6 years but I can take it or leave it, a key is fine also.

Yeah, I do to. The wife always ride the starter too long with the key start.

Pretty much everything sold now has computer controlled starters. You can't ride the starter too long.

Saw a news report today that lawyers are blaming auto manufacturer's for not having an auto shut-off switch when a driver parks the truck in the garage and forgets to shut it off at the end of the day. Part of the reason why at least an audible sound should be heard when the fob exits the truck. But in reference to the report, the manufacturer's warranty doesn't cover personal stupidity?

That issue is with a hybrid car that may have no running engine at the time it is placed in "park" and could automatically start the gasoline engine when the battery runs low, much later. The particular case where there was either a death or serious injury, was with a Prius that was parked in the attached garage, the engine started in the middle of the night and carbon monoxide flowed into the house and into the bedroom.

As new technologies are put into vehicles, new safety issues come with them. The combinations of faults and consequences of new technologies can be largely unknown to the consumer or even professional mechanics. These electric and hybrid cars have batteries and electrical systems with hazards not seen in cars before.

In the systems safety engineering profession there's a saying: "you don't know what you don't know"

To each is own I say. But really aside from your wife walking away from the car and forgetting to give you the keyFOB, what's the problem here? If you want to know about real problems with push start ask Nissan owners having to pay $800 for the module when it fails and it fails a lot. Module has 90 day warranty and on average it last about 91.
