BG Performance Service vs Catch Can -- Or both?

Recommended Posts

Need some opinions from the experts on here. I just traded in my 2015 for a 2016, and want to make sure I keep this engine as clean as I possibly can. Unlike the 2015, I will probably drive the 2016 until the wheels fall off, so I want to make sure I take care of it as well as I possibly can. After months of research regarding Direct Injection and catch cans I had a quick question.

From what I have learned BG seems to be the go to for the cleaning of the valves and combustion chambers on these EcoTec engines. Luckily my local Chevrolet dealer performs this service.

Would there be any benefit whatsoever to get a catch can if I plan to have the dealership perform this service every 7,500 miles. If I am going to do it, I want to do it right, and to maintain BG's lifetime protection plan I will be getting the service done every 7,500 miles.

I know... I know... a catch can will prevent (mostly) the "small" amount of buildup between BG services, but will the build up be enough to even worry about?

Thanks for the help!
