Saw another F-150; Took Some Pics

I was down at our beach house on the Outer Banks of NC today, and saw this one a few houses down from ours. I live in Norfolk, VA, about an hour and a half away from the Outer Banks, and have seen quite a few of these running around in Norfolk. We have what I think is the primary F-150 plant here in Norfolk, so this must be just one of there test models as the VA plates say "Factory Distributor".

I like the new look more than the current generation F-150, but I still like the 03 Silverados more.

(Sorry for no front pics)

Well, I agree with out on the Ford emblem on the tailgate, but those actually aren't real doors. I thought they were at first, but apparently that is a regular cab model. Ford's given the regular cabs additional space behind the seat; a good idea IMO, but I don't like the new "extended" regular cab look.

I'm not familiar with the new 04' F-150... is that their extended cab version???  If so, thats pretty darn small...reminds me of the Nissan/Toyota extened cab of the older trucks (late 80's).

Eric

EDIT:  ok you answered my question... I agree, I dont like the regular cab with the extended cab look.

They are real doors.  That's a regular cab model and they have opening rear suicide-style door panels to allow access to storage bins behind the seat.  There are no rear seats in it.

The 04 F150s are available in reg cab, supercab and supercrew.   The supercab and supercrew have rear seats but all configurations have four opening doors.

The new behind-the-seat storage system on the reg cab is pretty nice.  It's a modular system and can be arranged as shelves, bins or taken out altogether.

Cool.  :thumb:

I remember reading about the various cab configurations a while back, but I guess I never picked up on the fact that the "extended" standard cabs have the suicide doors. In fact, looking at the pictures, its now apparent. Despite the fact I don't care much for the look of the window on the rear portion, I've got to hand it to Ford, the regular cab configuration is pretty cleaver.

I love the new F-150, it is actually what got me started truck shopping again.  But my rule is to never buy car in its first model year (case in point, my father-in-law's '03 F-350 with the 6.0 diesel...on its fourth recall) and I don't have the patience to wait for an '05.

Hence my return to the GM family....which is okay by me.  I picked up my Denali for probably 3-4K less than the Ford dealers will let a new F-0150 out the door for (at least for the next few years).... :)
