Brake Pedal

 

Recall Description:

 

General Motors has decided that a defect which relates to motor vehicle safety exists in certain 2015 – 2016 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra 2500/3500 Heavy Duty Pickup Trucks and Chevrolet Tahoe PPV vehicles. The brake pedal pivot nut on these vehicles may become loose, causing the brake pedal to be loose or inoperative.

 

Safety Risk Description:

 

If the brake pedal becomes loose or inoperative, the driver may be unable to safely stop the vehicle through application of the brake pedal, increasing the risk of a crash. A loose pedal may also interfere with the accelerator pedal, increasing the risk of a crash.

 

Repair Description:

 

Dealers will add adhesive to the nut and reinstall the bolt at an increased torque, free of charge.

The fix is remove brake bolt nut apply Loctite on nut threads and re-torque. I ordered a new truck it came in they got recall and I was not allowed to even take it for a test drive. The following day they received the repair performed the repair while I was there and then I could test drive. I picked up my new ride yesterday. They were not allowed to sell any 2500hd trucks on there lot until repair was made.

I called my dealer and got the same fix info as you described, but the guy I talked to said not to worry about it, "we'll take care of that when you come in for your oil change". I'm considering scheduling that oil change now since I'm currently at 30%.

 

30% oil life, that is.

Hmmm, wonder if that explains my irritating squeaky pedal.

That's what I said to the service manager about mine, since they sprayed lube on it to fix that issue. He assured me it had nothing to do with it, I guess he didn't understand my thought that lubing up a non secured bolt was a bad idea. Anyway he has told me he does not want my business anymore. I have a meeting there tomorrow with the sales manager to discuss whether me, my family, my friends, or co-workers will ever be going back there, since they and GM refused to address the issues I am having with the truck.
