Thinking about one of these

Chris,

I was considering a Camaro6 late last year. I was also considering a Mustang. I was looking at the high performance models in each make. When the L.A. car Show came to town, I was up there kicking tires on Shelbys and SS camaros. I was leaning toward a Mustang GT after the show.

I stumbled on a 2014 2SS a friend had and the price wouldn't let me pass it up. I've been commuting in it for about a month. I'm still getting familiar with it.

I will say that you may find the visibility in a Camaro to be restrictive compared to a Mustang. There is also a more clostrophobic sense to the Camaro with the low roofline and large pillars, front and back. The B pillar is very restrictive, but all of my trucks for past 17 years had toppers which are about as bad and I use mirrors comfortably. I may get a new body style mustang some day, mainly because I've never owned a Mustang.

No visibility issues for me :)

Thanks for the feedback. Yea, the visibility is a concern but I'm used to using my mirrors as well. I am still yet to drive one in heavy traffic but do plan to do this before making a decision.

My current boss has a newer BMW X5, and it is a total piece of shit. I have been working for this guy for 6 months. In that time, it has had a new transmission, passenger front brake caliper, passenger front window motor/regulator, battery, 2 sensors, and now a coolant leak that started last week.

I know the X5 is not a sports car, but it is a high performance SUV nonetheless. I really don't know where all the hype for BMW's comes from? They are a crappy vehicle, IMO.

As I said, today's BMW's go a separate path. I don't give a flying dunkin doughnut about them anymore. And I used to be a literal card carrying, meeting attending, local newsletter contributing, local calendar car owning member of the BMWCCA. If that doesn't tell you something I don't know what else to say. If you want the hype, get an older one that was taken care of, and drive a same era competitor back to back.

How about a newish Chevrolet SS? It's a sedan but still very awesome with a 6MT.

I have thought about one of those but the wow factor really isn't there. If they do some updates with the new motor and more aggressive styling I would defiantly consider it. Something with an actual back seat would be great for the kids.

Just a thought, my little brother got himself a Cadillac ATS w/ the 3.6 V6 and that sucker is sweeeeet. 0-60 is quicker than the SS Camaro (so he said, I didn't verify) but, it's a much more practical and probably comfortable. If they had it with a 6.2 that would be the cats you know what!

To me and my generation, Cadillac has a stigma of old people's cars. Now that I'm old and gray, I'm certainly qualified for one, but I'm not ready act old. I don't care how fast a Cadillac is. I ain't driving one.

I always kinda felt that way, Cadillac = old man's car but, once my Brother got his, I'd buy one in a heart beat, at least an ATS or CTS. The other ones still kinda fit that old man mold. I've been eyeing their 2.0 Turbo version for my wife but, the used 1-2 year old one is out of our budget for her ride this time around.

I know, I've been to the car shows and looked at em. It's me. Some things just stick with you. Prejudice is one way to describe it. ...and I ain't wearin no laser blue polyester slacks neither. I don't care how old I get.

My son saw this coming, on his 2015 SS he added the splitter, spoilers, and upped the hp to over 455. The only difference is he has the louvered hood scoop. You will love this car if this is your style, I wouldn't own one but I sure like getting on his.
