GM OEM Parking Aid-Camera 23306741

2014 2015 Chevrolet Silverado Sierra Tailgate Handle GM# 23448681

I am now dealing with the issue of getting the dealer to program this correctly for me. They said they are not able to because the truck did not come with one and it is not in the Program settings. I have emailed them what RolnSlo has posted, hopefully they will be able to offer some assistance. Other option is to use MVI at gm-navigation.com and send in current HMI for a pre-programmed HMI for $200, that being my last ditch effort, hopefully the dealer can offer some quick and easy help.

2016 Silverado LT. It did not come with the backup camera, did have the tailgate lock. I purchased GM camera and new tailgate latch. Installed them myself. Took it to the dealer to get it flashed, dealer flashed the system, rear view camera showed up in setting, but no picture in reverse. Long story short, I had the camera plugged into the wrong place ( turned out where i had it plugged into was just an empty plug). I worked with the guys at the dealer, they eventually told me if the truck wasn't born with the camera, you couldn't add it. I went out to the lot and crawled under a 2016 that had a backup camera and traced the cable from the tailgate to where it plugged in. That cable had 8 wires in it, mine only had two. I surmised the backup camera and tailgate lock wiring was in the same cable. I unplugged the cable for my tailgate lock and plugged in the cable for the camera, I now had a camera but no tailgate lock. The camera plug had two empty slots, so I disassembled both plugs and moved the tailgate lock wires to the camera plug, now everything works. I have backup camera and tailgate lock. I do not have any warning sign/sounds when backing though. Not really a problem as I only really wanted it to assist in hooking up to my trailers.

Happy to help anybody with this mod.

I just bought a 2016 without a backup camera and I'm trying to install one myself. I bought the handle already but I'm running into trouble finding the correct camera to buy. The dealership is no help either. Could someone please provide a part number for a camera that will plug into the factory harness. Thank you in advance.

2016 Silverado LT 4x4. It did not come with a rear view camera. I installed a factory camera and tailgate latch, plugged in into the junction box under the bed. Took it to the dealer to be flashed. Now all I get is "Service rear view system".

Same here. 2014 Silverado WT with IO4. Plugged in camera in RC port, flashed ECU, nothing but "service rear view system." Not sure what else there is to do. I bought another camera in case the first one was DOA, no help.

I have a 2017 Cheverolet 2500 Series Work Truck that has a screen in the cab for all the gadgets of blutooth phone, stereo etc... the question I have is I crunched my pickup box and now needs to replace it.  For a few dollars more I could get the box and tailgate with the back up camera items and I also need a new bumper, So could I add a back up camera to my system , even though I would assume the Work Truck version did not come with that from the factory?

Gosh I would really love to talk to you since I need to replace my 2017 Work Truck box and bumper and I really want to get the back up camera --mine orginally did not have it --but I have the screen for all the goodies inside so I can see I can buy the new box and bumper for backup camera for ony a little more.,  Question is--can I make this work so it looks and works like a factory back up camera and shows up on my LCD screen on the dash>?

I would like to thank Purebred_mutt for his input on this subject. I have a 2016 Silverado LT 2500hd which did not come with the factory backup camera. I purchased what I thought was a plug and play backup camera through the dealer for $1000. Over the next year or so, I started to have a flashing on my infotainment screen followed by a black screen. After several trips to the dealer I was told "someone" had placed an aftermarket navigation system in my vehicle so it would not be covered by warranty. To make a long story short, the dealer did not fix my camera after 3 wks in the shop. I took it back to the branch where I bought it, 50 miles away, and they said the same thing as they told mutt, namely, if the truck wasn't born with the b/u camera, I was ****** outa luck. They were kind enough to offer to sell me a new truck with a backup camera for an astronomical amount of money.

So it decided to try the obdgenie just to see if by some magic it would work. And it didn't.

After searching the internet for hours, I found Mutts report and took the tailgate apart and crawled under the truck to see where these cables plugged in. I determined I was prewired for a camera by looking behind the glovebox in the front of the truck.

I removed the aftermarket Nav/backup camera and plugged in a tailgate handle camera I bought from GM Nav and Integration Specialists into the 8 pin harness that Mutt described. Lo and behold, my backup camera worked! The one I purchased actually had the 2 wire harness that attached to the activator in my tailgate so the automatic tailgate locking function works.

Had it not been for Mutt, I probably would have given up on getting a camera and just kept running into things when I backed up.

I am glad he had the guts to ignore the stupid dealer and take matters into his own hands.

I would like to kick both the dealers that I visited in their nuts(if they had any). How could they not know that  a simple fix was available. I think they just don't care because they weren't going to make any warranty money off of my problem and just wanted to sell me a new vehicle.

Thanks again Mutt. We need more people like you who won't just take someones word that a problem can't be fixed.

Hello, lots of good info here. I'm looking for tips on how to get the backup camera working on my 2016 2500HD LT with I06 system and power tailgate lock but no camera from the factory. Here's what I've done this far.

1. Purchased a 14-19 power tailgate lock with camera & wiring harness from a salvage yard on ebay.

2.Purchased a new bezel with the hole for the camera.

3.Installed the parts above and plugged the harness to the 8 pin plug behind the bumper.

The tailgate lock works as it did before.

4. Purchased the OBDGenie to turn on the camera feature. Followed directions but the lights on the OBDGenie do not              change colors like it's supposed to once the update is complete.

5. Contacted OBDGenie. They sent me a replacement but the replacement does the same thing...like it's not          completing the update.

I expected this would be plug & play since I used factory used parts and a highly rated company for the OBD upgrade.

So is there something else I'm missing? Any info on this is much appreciated.
