Will a 88-94 Steering column fit in a 73-87?

I was wondering if anyone has ever installed a column from a 88-94 Chevy into a 78 or other 73-87.  I have seen one in a 70 before, but I am unsure of what mods were necessary.  I am not talking about electrically, I can handle that part, but physically.

This truck has the 88-94 wheel and it looks like it has the 88-94 column as well...
