Two hours buying a car......

The first hour is a salesman telling you how amazingly reliable the brand is. You don't need the lifetime warranty the other brand has.

The second hour is the finance guy telling you how absurdly expensive repairs are, you'll go bankrupt if you don't buy the extended warranty for only $2,500. Oh, you don't want it? Well good news, he is authorized to sell it to for a limited time discount of $1000!

If only I hadn't heard that pitch the first three times I bought one!

What about the paint protection package

Ryan

It lasts for 7 years!

Oh and this is funny:

3 of the last digits in the Tahoe were 666.

The Honda? 6666.

I can't "wash" the car for 48 hours after the Xpel is put on....good thing I have a gallon of waterless wash concentrate to be precise! Its gonna be waxed 44 hours before I'm allowed to wash it. #neuroticdetailer

The fastest I was in and out was 1/2 hrs from a GMC dealer in San Jose. I made the deal on the phone, flew in, dealer picked me up at the airport, and I drove back to L.A.. We discussed and disposed of the extended warranty and other b.s. on the phone. Just a few signatures and I was on my way.

My camaro was 15 mins they had it all setup when I got there. They knew me from when I ordered my truck.

That's gotta be some kind of record. Most of our new purchases have taken hours.

I have bought 2 from the same dealer that took less than 10 minutes each. Walked in, wrote a check for the full amount, signed one or two papers and walked out. These were before all of the "explain the features/onstar" type crap. The newest one took hours waiting on the finance guy, State Farm to send proof of insurance, dealer to locate the fax from State Farm, etc...

In the end, I was so impressed with their speed that the next new one will be purchased at my old dealer 4 states away.

Well, took some digging but I finally found invoice, kickback, etc.

I paid $258 UNDER total dealer cost if the site is right. AND got 1k in accessories free.

Cars.com has the invoice around $100 higher than the first, so still under

How the heck did I do that.....

This Chev was slow.... I made the deal over the phone and brought a cheque for the difference over and above what they offered on my trade. So first it's documents I'm waiting on.... then suddenly the trade is worth a grand less than we agreed as they tried to tell me I said it was a crew cab and it's actually an extended. ... so I showed my text message saying it was an extended and told them to shove it if I don't get agreed price... Then they dither around some more. Now I need insurance proof of more than years worth of ownership for the loyalty rebate... so I get them that. Then it's more waiting and go get my registration done...I also grab a hotel as this is a couple hours from home and i had stuff to do other than the truck purchase. Now I am back and go sign docs at the finance office....then back in the truck for almost an hour for the ****ing onstar setup. So now it's about hour 5 and the dealership is closed and I can finally leave..... only after we turn some lights on so we can air up my tires that are all low. I was ready to throw myself into traffic waiting for these guys... it was that bad.

Oddly the truck I traded in was about a half hour in and out affair like it should be.
