Elite Engineering E2X Catch Can - Shipping Time?

Recommended Posts

Put this on yesterday. No instructions came in the box and the website instructions were not that good. I emailed them for the placement of the check valve and they responded quickly. I called them a couple times on a couple different days and always got their answering machine. Anyways, happy with the quality of the can and the 1/4 turn ball valve makes it easy to drain.

I had to watch a video for check valve direction. How the heck did you get those rubber lines on those fittings?? They are meant for braided rubber hose, with the rubber hose not having near the wall thickness of plain rubber hose. There was no way I was going to try and force them, because that's what I would have had to do to get them on.

I used some WD-40 and it worked like a champ. No leaks yet. I need to put some zip ties on the 1/2" hose just for peace of mind. The check valve chatters at idle, but you can't hear it from inside the cab.

Thanks for that. I think I'll change mine to those when I get another decent day. They look much better too!

Just received mine today.

DeepSea, thanks for the pic's, this is where I am going to mount it.

The two places they show mounting the catch can are the left master cylinder mounting bolt and one of the bolts that hold the windshield washer fluid tank. Pretty much 90 degrees from where yours is mounted now, but in about the same place. On the check valve, I just blew threw it to see which direction it was made for (there is a tiny arrow on it), then the only question is which side line it gets installed in.

I'm mounting mine this weekend. I am going to try to do the master cylinder mount, but I think the bigger can is too big to install there. I also installed a barb fitting on the drain ball valve along with some clear tubing going to the bottom of the engine bay. This way I can just throw a drain pan under the truck in a predetermined spot and hit the ball valve to drain. I think we are going to have a problem holding a pan under the tight spots and trying to drain the can. I also want to use the spare battery location for a 2nd battery later.

I got my E2X yesterday and now have to install. I have 2 check valves and will have to figure out the orientation of what goes where tomorrow when I slap it in. I can just see the check valves freezing shut and popping my dipstick tube out lol. It's mild though... like stupidly mild so this year I should just fine.

If you are worried, just blow thru them. You will figure out which way they go. Remember the direction of the flow goes from the lower fitting on the motor thru the can and out to the higher intake manifold fitting. On the E2X can the outside fitting goes to the outlet side. In other words out to out. My biggest fear was reversing the hoses.....

Krdeal, how did you connect the CSS to the Airaid intake tube?

Go question! I added some custom fittings to make the install easier and cleaner. On the passenger side the fitting needs to now be blocked (Elite provides a rubber cap for the stock air box). I used a 1/2" pipe plug into the air tube fitting hole. On the driver side (on the tube it's on the underside), I found a 1/2" pipe male to a 90 degree 3/8" barb fitting. This allowed me to do away with the 1/2" to 3/8" adapter that Elite provides with the kit. I just feel that the adapter installed in this application was prone to failure due to heat and the weight of the hose on the adapter joint.

krdeal, thanks for the information and photo! I've been using a polymer adapter but I'll swap it out for a fitting like you've used. I'll probably wrap it with some high temp teflon tape as well just to make it bullet proof.

I had to shop around for a big enough fitting. I tried NAPA, but my local one had a poor selection and it was completely out of order. I then went to Home Depot once I had found out that the Air Raid tube uses 1/2" pipe threaded fittings. I was looking for PVC type fittings, but only found the plug in brass. The other fitting was dumb luck and they had everything I wanted in one nylon fitting. I was prepared to use 3 fittings to make what I wanted.

Installing tomorrow, so I'm perfectly clear the check valve goes on the outlet side, and flows back to the motor... Sorry for the naive question...

The truck has 140 miles on it and I don't really want to screw it up...
