Oil catch can

Recommended Posts

So I decided to get a catch can for my

2015 6.2l. I started looking on line not sure what one to go with. Any opinions on what brand is better than another would be appreciated. And it looks like I need to do a clean air separator also or is this not needed.

For you guys that are using an oil catch can with success, do you think it would be beneficial to install one on my lady's new 2016 Equinox?

It has the little 2.4L 4cyl engine but with it being the newish direct injection GM is using, I am a little worried about any extra carbon deposits that may develope. If it would be beneficial, I would like to get one installed as soon as possible, before there are a few hundred miles on the engine. I guess I would like to try and stop as much build up as I can, as soon as I can.

Any thoughts and experiences from using the catch can on the DI engines would be greatly appreciated.

Yes. Any direct injected car would benefit from it.

Random fact, I like where Lexus is going, by making engines with a combination of port injection and direct injection. I would still argue that those engines could benefit from a catch can, but at least the tops of the intake valves will see some fuel wash to prevent coking.

Railrunner, go with Elite. As Ryan said, asked and answered previously.

BlackZ71, I put an Elite on my wife's ATS with a 3.6L engine. It doesn't catch as much as expected, but it gives me peace of mind knowing the crap it catches is not going into the engine. I agree with fondupot, yes it would be beneficial on your new car.
