Any Canadians tuned by diablew (lew)

Recommended Posts

Curious if any Canadians have been tuned by lew and how the tunes been with our winters and the cold I have bfg k02 33" tires on 18s and im looking to get some better mpg and what not seeing how the cold killed that for me compared to my summer mpg haha... But just want to know what your experience was with the tune and how happy you are with it and did you gain mpg and how noticeable the power was

I'll answer since most people think we are part of Canada anyway. :D With the winter gas the mileage goes to crap in the winter anyway but in the summer I saw about 1 mpg or so increase. There is a power increase as it stays in v4 mode longer. There is 2 spots on my drive to my seasonal that it used to downshift to go up them but after the tune it never does. The driveability is noticeably better, engine idles and just drives smoother.

This is my 2nd truck I have had him tune so you can say I am very happy with him!

I've got a custom tune from Lew.

Truck is much more responsive on the throttle now and great pull all the way to red line. I love passing on the highway now, not waiting for the truck to wake up the other 4 cylinders and be in-decisive on the down shifting. Just punch it and I'm gone. Mileage appears to be roughly the same if not a touch better than before. Obviously I've seen my mileage drop with the cold weather lately.

Funny story icon_e_biggrin.gif

So we flashed the truck back to stock to take it into the dealership for the 60,000km inspection. Dealer tried to screw us big time so it was a waste of time and money. Since I'm a bit lazy I didn't put the tune back on the truck right away and the wife had alot of errands to do that day. She calls me at work:

"I HATE THE STOCK TRUCK NOW!! I can't pass and I'm watching the gas gauge drop so fast! You're putting that tune back on as soon as you get home icon_lol.gif "

Needless to say, when the wife notices, it's a great mod.

I had a tune from Diablew and it wasn't too bad in the winter but i had a local Tuner tune my truck using HP tuners and wow it is miles better than diablew's tune, don't want to bad mouth him but when we looked at his tune one of the graphs was set really weird and instead of being linear like it should be it was progressive then would drop at certain points which was causing my truck to knock occasionally but it was super obvious to the tuner right away.

Do you happen to have the before and after logs/charts/dyno?

Just curious where the drops and possible knocks were being detected.

I don't have a before and after dyno chart because I haven't had it dyno'd yet but I plan to soon. It's definitely noticeable from before and after getting my custom tune done it pulls the same all the way through the rev range instead of only just pulling hard at high rpm, the guy used hp tuners and was watching I live feed of all of my sensors and stuff and it showed it on there and he could just hear it too

Well I live in Saskatchewan and a guy who lives part in Saskatchewan and Alberta and he's got a dyno shop in Edmonton and makes trips to tune people's vehicles in Saskatchewan and he's got a dialed transmission tune he puts into 2014+ trucks and it's night and day

Oh perfect yeah he's got a dyno shop there so you could either street tune which is what I did and or dyno tune, best way to contact him is Facebook, his name is Chris Zelinsky, yeah tunes are a standard rate, $350 for the tune but honestly it's miles better and improves mileage significantly, good improvement I found out before getting the tune is to use shell v power it gives much better fuel mileage, and then with his tune it really gives a lot more fuel mileage, haven't done a long distance trip with the tune yet as I just got it last week but during the week driving it in the city it's been significantly better
