2000 3 dr. Advice needed

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I've got a 2000 Sierra 3 door, and need some advice. I've decided that I want to upgrade the sound quality, but want to keep the stock CD player (stealth). I've talked to a couple shops, and the quotes have been pretty high, so I'm thinking of doing what I can on my own.

1. Is it true that it is so much work to get to the left rear speaker that it's not even worth replacing it (remove seat, and all plastic panels from the back wall wrapped around to the drivers door)? This is what I heard from a shop.

2. My plan is to move in steps, starting by installing seprates in the front doors, and rears if possible. I was plannin on doing this myself. Next step would be to have an amp pro installed. I was going to get a 5 channel to cover everything, and I figured this would be the most complex part of the install. Finally, I would add a sub, likely in a pre-fab enclosure.

SO the question is, is this a feasable plan? I'm decent with a wrench, and pretty mechanically inclined, but the amp install sounds like a lot. Thanks to anybody who can offer some adice on this.

Todd
