Poor shifting. Converter lock-up? Active Fuel Management?

Recommended Posts

No, I have a $1,000 worth of C7 intake & parts sitting in a box in my living room. Will probably end up on something other than my truck.

No one ever did a write up on that hu? I have just the intake i got for free.... Just need to buy the covers and doo dats. But scared to take on the mod.

Yo

Thats exactly what i feel!!!! 33s and 3.08s dont help my case either. Did a tune clear that right up?

You need gearing with those tires! I just set up a 4.10 in a Crew Cab with 33"s and it's a whole new truck without the tune and that's next.

Anyway, there's a lot of talk about Diablo tuners, yet everyone seems to refer them to Diablew and Intune. When I went to Diablo Sport's website, these are the only models offered for a 2015 Sierra 5.3L:

Those have a canned pre done tune. The "Diablew" tune is a guy that does custom tuning wirh the diablo software and he sends it to you..... You download that tune to your diablo hand held..... Then upload the tune to you're truck. Its a custom tune but just uploades with the handheld.

Or you can do a tune from BlackBear as well that is a custom tune.

There's plenty of local shops that can custom dyno tune my truck, but if I decide to sell it or trade it in, I won't have any return on the tune. But if I get a handheld, at least I can get something back for it if I sell the tuner.

You buy the tuner, read the truck parameters, email to Diablew or Bb, they make the adjustments for a fee just like the dyno shop and you can keep the tuner for the next truck to which you pay someone to provide a tune again. I bought the Autocal after my first tune to make swapping programs easy then I was able to reuse the Autocal to provide bb my new truck parameters and pay them a fee to tune it. Now I am in the works of tuning my 2016 again for a fee. Same tuner, 3 trucks and I can swap engine and transmission tunes at will

So if mail order tunes are offered by a few different reputable tuners, is the actual handheld tuner that much of a difference from one to another? If they're getting custom tunes programmed to them anyway. I'm not looking to do much performance enhancements to this truck anyway. The only thing I have is a catback. My main objective was to alter or deactivate the AFM, adjust for tire height, bump in a little extra power with a preset tune, and make tranny adjustments (shift points, quickness, firmness) if it's even offered.

I always found custom tunes better than boxed tunes. My understanding of fuel trims and shift point/firmness is limited so I will pay to have someone else do it

It's night and day.... I've gone from a Hypertech to a mail order to a wideband custom dyno tune on my other truck and wow.....

Canned tunes are a general good tune but like each one of us.... Engines are slightly different so a custom tune will get the most out of you're truck.

No offence but not getting you're money back for a custom tune when you sell the truck is hilarious to me. You enjoyed it...... Who cares?? Lol
