While I agree that vehicles today are engineering marvels, if you gave me the option to own my uncle's fully restored '68 camaro or a new 2015 I'd take the '68 any day of the week and twice on Sunday. What I don't think people understand is old cars remind them of their childhood, or their dad or grandpa, or they just love the simplicity of them. Many people learned how to wrench on classics when they were kids, or remember rides they got in them and want to get that feeling back by owning one. You have to understand that the gentleman on here probably didn't just build his 550 hp C10 to complete with your "engineering mavel" of a truck, he built it to have a truck with beautiful lines, that was completely american made, that doesn't need the newest version of the Iphone to fix, and one he can wrench on in his garage and drive on the weekends. Believe it or not that truck is a piece of american heritage, it isn't about the money, it is about the memories.

I've had them all over the years, and I can honestly say I'll keep the older cars and trucks over the newer stuff. My 2014 Silverado was a good truck, but my 1991 is better. Sure it's only 180hp and doesn't have a touchscreen radio, AFM (thankfully I might add), 6 speed auto, or any other toys the new trucks have. But, It starts everyday, get 24 MPG, and IMO looks better.

New cars are nice with all the bells a whistles, but a monkey can drive them.

I'll take my 400hp 69 coronet over a 707hp hellcat anyday… I mean a Hellcat is an $90k car here in Canada, I bought the Coronet for $6500, and have another $30k going into it. They sell for $45-65k, in a year or to that Hellcat, is going to sell for about the same maybe $50-65k depending on mileage.

And most people that spend $100k on an old car are doing it because they know it's going to fetch a lot more at auction. Or they are restoring a part of their youth. Or they are taking that ugly looking Hellcat (sorry never been a fan of the modern retro pony cars) and fitting the engine and drivetrain into a classic…
