As if there are presses anymore! Anyway, the story we did just two months ago about Chevy's top crate engine, is now obsolete. The ZZ6 will take a back-seat to the Corvette's 650 hp LT4, which you can now buy to power your sleigh.

The newest addition to your Christmas list will enable your project car to pack the same punch as a "vette. Chevy says the new engine is "The perfect balance of performance and efficiency, the LT4 leverages the technologies introduced on the 2014 Corvette Stingray’s LT1 Gen-V small block, including Direct Injection and continuously Variable Valve Timing, while advancing the supercharging technologies established with the previous-generation Corvette ZR1’s LS9 engine. The result is a surprisingly efficient engine capable of producing 650 horsepower and 650 lb-ft of torque."

Chevy says the kit can come with a wet or dry sump lubrication system. The good folks at Chevy can also offer a kit to enable the engine to fit an automatic transmission.

the net is terrible on actual specs.

I get as far as titanium valves, a unique hard alloy for the heads...

powder forged rods

and no further.

what is the chamber size, port design, CFM numbers, exhaust and intake sizes..

is the block non-siamese (wet cylinder) ?

what is the cylinders sleeved?

this lack of facts kills every great launch by gm. I have even found some throwing the vortec eninges away...yes, those engines with the LT 1 heads before LT ever got them.

ridiculous. Can they treat us mechanics like mechanics and lead us to real facts?
