Hit something hard...clunking front end on reverse

Recommended Posts

Thursday night, in the rain, road construction ~35mph. Work crews had removed two plastic barrels from a chunk of road (about 6' long) they removed out of the fast lane and I hit it with the left side tires. Other than the fact that I bounced up on to the right two wheels before landing properly (pretty sure someone in the car pissed themselves) it appeared that no harm no foul. Looked over the wheels, tires, suspension etc on Friday and didn't notice anything. Made a long trip yesterday and noticed when backing out of a parking spot with the wheel cranked hard right that a clunk from the front end occurred. What am I missing?

Get up under the front and check for broken shock or front stabilizer bar also jack the front up and check for play in the wheel up and down (pull on the bottom push on the top) could have damaged a ball joint which sounds like it or wheel bearing, it sounds like you hit it real hard. Also check the front wheel lug nuts and front end alignment, guarantee you knocked it out of line with that hard of a hit. Get it checked out ASAP.
