WEIRD Sound from Behind Dash

Recommended Posts

Hello fellow GM truck owners,

Really need some assistance/advice.

I own a 2015 Silverado 4.3 L with 7000 miles. Two months ago I noticed a minor hissing/buzzing sound coming from behind the dash and or underneath the steering column.

Only happens when the car is put under stress such as accelerating quickly, driving up hills, and slight inclines when the vehicle is going over 65 MPH.

The hissing sound isn't very loud but I don't remember the sound being there for the first couple of months I've had.. it seems to have developed over time. I'm not going to lie its not noticeable to most people who ride shotgun but a few people can hear it.

I tell you what thought it BOTHERS me, and I've brought it to the dealership that I bought the truck at twice. First time they didn't hear it. Second time I did a ride along and he noticed it. Came back and they told me it was just a normal "engine noise".

Took it to a second dealership. Did a ride along guy told me it was the sound of the engine exhaust.

Sound has been bothering me.. anyone else noticed this with their silverados? The sound sounds like its coming DIRECTLY from the dash.

Appreciate any responses, I'm minor OCD and this sound has been ruining my brand new purchase!

There are orange taped wires under the dash next to the radio.. take the cover off under the steering wheel.. I zip tied the wire to pull it tight and the noise will stop.. but it will come back and you have to keep zip tying it in different directions.. it really makes no sense
