Here's Why a Bugatti Veyron Oil Change Costs $20,000

$30,000 tires? That one stumps me....

They probably made them of unique size and bead design, so there is only one supplier. And the liability is high because if these tires fail, then you can imagine the consequences and the law suits. So they do not skimp on quality. And these tires are supposedly glued to the rims, which is truly unusual. So they can charge whatever they want.

I read somewhere that part of the cost is that there are only two tire facilities in the world that can dismount them. Wheels need to be X rayed too. The costs are nuts but realize this is a million dollar car that probably is driven at most a couple thousand miles a year.

And that probably included your wheels too.

Interesting article but it sort of makes sense. Think about it. This complex machine was not built based on the Ford theology of the automotive production line. Not to mention there isn't much in the way of economies of scale with a car like that. Look at a prostreet drag car. They tear down the engine and rebuild after every 1/4 mile pass. When you squeeze every gram of performance out of it with such tight tolerances, I'd would appreciate the rebuild as oppose to a filter change and oil drain.

I've noticed myself the higher end you get with anything (Ski's, side by sides, snowmobiles etc) the more intricate and expensive the maintenance. Just my $.02

I did not realize that the rims were so big in diameter until you posted the actual size. When you get to 24 inch size, prices of good quality tires and wheels go way up for sure.

and Formula 1 Takes it to the extreme; the Tolerances in a F1 engine are so tight, a cold engine is effectively seized until they start pumping warmed oil and coolant into the engine when they go to start it.
