Bose vs No Bose. Which is worth it?

I have the bose in my '14 and its ok. Had Bose in my 12 maxima and the gmc one doesn't come close to comparing. Although there were more speakers in the maxima. For the 500 upgrade it is worth it I think.

If you don't plan to replace the standard sound system with aftermarket speakers but want an upgrade, yes it's worth it in my opinion. If you plan to go aftermarket, skip the Bose and just go standard and then replace the speakers with an aftermarket system of your choice. The front speakers in my old truck were $400 alone aftermarket so $500 is a bargain in my opinion if you get a sub thrown in the mix.

anyone trying to convince themselves that the base radio, touchscreen, system sounds anywhere NEAR the Bose above low listening level is kidding themselves lol

I used to build sub boxes to spec when younger and i can tell you having had the base radio for a couple days (with nav) to test out (friend runs the dealer and wife wanted to see if she liked the pickup) then sitting in my friend's Bose equipped siverado lol no comparison. No bose was a NON STARTER... best $500 (next to these Hi-Po LED headlights) you can spend on these trucks,

I have the standard audio system. It's okay. I would have loved to get Bose. I feel the bass is good, but it's really missing something. I constantly find myself adjusting the treble and base. I demand high quality audio, and might find myself upgrading in the future.

If you have the bench seat, the bose speaker system is not very good, the front door speakers are subwoofers only, the dash speakers have no base only treble. If your interested in the bucket seats they have the subs in the center console and normal speakers in doors and dash. This set up sounds way better than the bench seat bose configuration. So it's not worth it if you are getting a bench seat.

I just added a JL Audio powered 10 to my truck and am convinced that the extra $500 that is charged for the Bose would be better spent on a powered sub like this, or the Kicker VSS powered sub box or any of the other similar units.

Has anyone swapped all six basic non bose speakers for something like focals without having do to any extra wiring or mess like that? Plug and Play?

It would be a gigantic waste of money to put focals in and just leave the factory processing/amplifier in

as for the rest of the thread, the factory bose is impressive and $500 is an absolute steal

As a guy who had Focals in his 2007 and left the factory processing/amplifier in, no it wouldn't haha. The truck sounded amazing.

Remember guys, if you upgrade the stock system, simply keep the paper speakers and remove your aftermarket system at trade time.

I removed everything from my 11' Silverado, and reinstalled the stock stuff when I traded it in.

Honestly, I think it sounds pretty good, far better than the non-bose in the other one I drove and I have built plenty of powerful systems over the years with my current Z28 powered by 2 12" kicker L7 square subs and a 1200 watt Kenwood amp.I thought the bass was actually pretty impressive for a stock system.....far better than the 7 speaker bose in the ATS I just replaced.
