Still Not Sold On A Catch Can? Check Here...

Doese a oil catch can void a warranty

Technically no, but if taken to court it boils down to who has the best representation. Gm monitors forums, social media, ect, and are aware of catch cans so it wouldn't surprise me a bit to see them come up with an excuse to void people's warranties. They have in the past, and I've read of Ford already doing it (albeit that's on the ecoboost engines which is a different animal all together.)

Heads Up - GM is trying to void engine warranties due to catch can install.

So cliff notes version for everyone, guy had a CAI and Catch Can on his 2015 Camaro. Got a low oil pressure light on start up and turned it off. Towed to dealer and it was most likely driven had one more mile on it than when dropped off. Now making engine noise.

GM blocked warranty with catch can as the reason, stating it starved engine of oil under certain circumstances. They delivered to his house in pieces.

A petition below to let GM know how BS this, I already signed.

Do you leave the catch cans on when you have service done, or do you take it off every time you have the oil changed?

I change my own oil but if it goes into dealer I'd pull the can if you're worried about warranty. Mine went into get alignment and I left it on they probably won't notice.

Its a risk you're willing to take then so be it.

There was a resolution to the case with the Camaro and the owner lost.

GM will not be fixing my car, and I understand and agree with them on why they won’t. If they fix mine because I only have a cold air intake and a catch can, where does it end? What about the guy who only has intake and shorty headers but no tune? What about the guy who has only this or only that? Where do they draw the line? GM drew the line at NO modifications, and that is ok with me.

This is messed up denying him unless catch can actually caused the problem.I dont see how unless he had one with check valve malfunction. I know from past experience some have them and some dont the elite basic one has flow through design.

I think its jacked up we as consumers have to fit aftermarket devices for enginering snafu that GM or other will not address. Signed petition too.
