Do you feel better now?

Well yes, yes I do. Thanks for asking. And Bigsapper you are right. I bought a new 69 SS396 4 speed Chevelle back in the day, took it to the track off the showroom floor and ran low15's. After a little tuning and driving technigue got it down to mid 14's. And I thought that was fast;>)

You are right, most of the muscle cars were lucky to run 14s, I had a few. My 94 impala as was the second fastest ever made at that point according to hot rod magazine it ran a 15-1/4 mile. Cars and trucks now days are a lot more fun to drive at the present.

I think you can attribute alot of the improvement in performance to TIRES - they don't get enough credit.

You put milchelin pilot super sports on a late 60's/early 70's 396 Chevelle SS, or Corvette Stingray, or Challenger, or Hemi Cuda etc. and I can guarantee you'll see 1/2 second+ off alot of the times.

But - I have to agree - INSANE to think you can buy a 1/2 ton pickup this capable, this fast, and this luxurious in stock form off the showroom floor nowadays...its a good era if you're a gearhead, but I think this is going to be the end of it.,,,alot of "nanny tech" and hybridization/electric vehicle tech is going to continue to really neuter many vehicles and the driving "experience" in general as we move forward w/ "progress"

Nobody loves the rumble of a V-8 engine as much as I do. Still electric motors are at full power instantly and should give insane acceleration as they are developed in the future. I have a buddy in his 70s. He won't own anything with an automatic transmission and refuses to accept that todays automatics will out perform a stick shift. Personally I think the future is bright. I remember GM 350s making 160 horsepower after govt. restrictions. Prior to that they could be had with 350 h.p. on premium and pretty radical cam timing. Now that little 5.3 or about 325 cu. in. makes 355 on regular gas and idles as smooth as can be.. Necessity is the mother of invention.

Here's a cool video that shows how clean E85 burns.

I saw this one a few months back. It sure seems cleaner which I like. I've been very pleased running E85 in my truck.

Years ago when E85 was pretty new I saw a 100,000 mile test that was performed on two identical vehicles. The E85 engine was almost spotless where as the E10 looked horrible. I can't wait to convert my truck.

I like the sound of that. Other than a handful of tanks of 87 to see what my mpg is on that I've been using E85 for the 18k miles I've currently got on my truck and plan to continue using it. I'm hoping along with the catch can I added with only a few thousand miles on it this will help go well beyond that 100k mark.

Good luck with your conversion. Its too bad GM just didn't continue making all the 15's and 16's flexfuel like the 14's.

Well I've got the 6.2L so it was never released as E85. But when the engine specs were released in 2013 the 6.2L was listed as E85 capable. Rumor has it they decided against as the 6.2L in the truck on E85 would put out similar numbers to GM sports cars. I'll be sure to post my results once I've converted.

It's was only about $100 to add it at the factory on a 15 5.3.
