Tuned and Converted to Flex Fuel (2015 Silverado 5.3L)

What was the actual alcohol content of the E85?

Reported on HPtuners was 62% on the 5.3 and 70% on the 6.2. True E-85 reads about 72-73% on the GM sensor and scanner.

Right right, I love tunes and would never drive a stock truck, I just referring to the fact that everyone keeps saying a E85 tuned 5.3 is faster then a stock 6.2.

Both are great motors, really the same motors, both should be tuned regardless.

I hear you, loud and clear and agree.

I can tell you that putting over sized LT rated All Terrain tires makes my truck a rocket ship.

Rookie question: How much of a timing/tuning factor does the 8-10% difference play?

Cool... Will the tune automatically compensate for concentration?

Yes, this is a full flex fuel conversion. It auto adjusts accordingly. All you have to do is drive and refuel. DI engines with high compression ratios (11.5:1 for the 6.2 and 11.0 for the 5.3) love the extra octane tolerance. Peak to peak gains are good but power under the curve is where it counts!

I see your point here, but there are also some who don't have other toys (Basing this off your Sig comment :)). So, this is their toy....so you have to understand it from that point of view.

As an Auto Enthusiast, I like to modify just about every vehicle I get. I know this isn't a hot rod, but I still want my truck to be be as good as possible, both performance and looking. Also, everyone has their own taste and options.

I'll end with what my Son told me the other day, "Don't yuk someone's yum".

My comment wasn't directed towards you and I wasn't quoting you, but now I am. I was quoting the person above about the "internet racers". I like what you had done with the E85 upgrade, it is something I will do as well and even asked Carl about a price for the parts. I'm not doing it to go around bragging or to try to race people on my key board like often happens on these forums. <<<< Not saying you have so don't go and take that out of context too. I would do it to simply have the availability to use E85 as my 15 can't as of now.

So in the end I didn't "yuk" anything... So enjoy that "yum" you have there.

Back at you, i wasn't aiming any yuk at you. I understand exactly what you're saying.

I was just trying to say that some people (internet racers or whatnot), this is the toy for them and if a 15 second brick makes them feel good, let them have it.

Had to look up SMH :)

Shaking my head.... I get all that crap from my sister in-law (much younger). I often feel like an NSA agent decoding her messages.

Here you go, this is a 15 GMC 6.2 L86 A6 w/air intake. I was hoping for a stoker but it was as close as I could get.

Stock- 332/383

Tuned - 353/409 picked up 21whp and 26 ft/lbs over stock

Tune E85 - 370/432 Picked up 38whp and 49 ft/lbs over stock

Good lawd!! :driving::driving:

I just think its funny people drive trucks that weigh 5000+lbs and they want to get into a dick measuring contest about who has the faster 15 second truck.

I've seen 3 different people post their *stock* CC 4wd 6.2L running 13.6 - 13.7. That .2 -.3 faster than my RCSB 5.3L E85, LT & tuned.

These GenV trucks get it on.

It's fun to go down the track in anything with balls. I'm itchin to bring mine... but the governor has been holding me back. I will have to tune it to increase the cutoff in order for me to even make a full pass. 92mph cutoff sucks! Probably some tires as well as there's now way it will hook with just 2wd. Trucks have come a long way though! SBC's have come a long way!!
