Have you tuned a L86 on e85 yet? Really curious to see some results of someone converting their new 6.2 to E85. I would love to convert over someday.

 

Here you go, this is a 15 GMC 6.2 L86 A8 w/air intake. I was hoping for a stoker but it was as close as I could get.

 

Stock- 332/383

Tuned - 353/409 picked up 21whp and 26 ft/lbs over stock

Tune E85 - 370/432 Picked up 38whp and 49 ft/lbs over stock

There will be so many butthurt 5.3 guys on here now.

 

 

I get so tired of hearing how a E85 5.3 will run with a 6.2, even on its best day tuned on E85 a stock 6.2 will hand you your ass...

I get so tired of hearing how a E85 5.3 will run with a 6.2, even on its best day tuned on E85 a stock 6.2 will hand you your ass...

 

Great numbers on the tuned 6.2!!!

I'm not "butthurt" in any way shape or form, but remember that the tune is more than just numbers. The shifting and shift points are spot on now, and I know that makes up for some of the number gap.

Carl did a great job dyno tuning my 6.2 (above). I met him at the dyno shop and got to watch him work his magic with his laptop. After analyzing the data info, laptop and dyno monitor after each pull, he would make slight adjustments where he thought where it was needed, add or subtract fuel here, advance timing, etc. We were there for 2 hours, manly man shit! Made me loud and proud

Can't wait to get it tomorrow

I just think its funny people drive trucks that weigh 5000+lbs and they want to get into a dick measuring contest about who has the faster 15 second truck.

I'm not even sure where to start with this post, but here goes.

 

Last week I ordered the Flex Fuel Sensor and fuel lines/hose/clips for the conversion and then dropped the truck off at the Tuner.

 

Today I picked up my truck from the Tuner. He installed everything and then tuned the truck on 91 Oct and then on E85. I normally run 91 Oct, so that is what he took the Baseline with and then started with that tune. Once he completed that tune and the tank was low, he filled it with E85 and tuned for that.

 

I have to say, my truck is a whole new beast, completely amazing. Shifts so much better, new power, etc. This is my 3rd vehicle I have had him tune, all have been excellent.

 

I'll attach the dyno chart below with 91 Baseline, 91 Oct Tune, E85 Tune.

 

HP gains on 91 Oct Tune: 30.6

TQ gains on 91 Oct Tune: 33.8

 

HP gains on E85 Tune: 57.7

TQ gains on E85 Tune: 70.7

 

I have so much more to say, but don't have time right now. Just wanted to share, as I am super excited!

Right right, I love tunes and would never drive a stock truck, I just referring to the fact that everyone keeps saying a E85 tuned 5.3 is faster then a stock 6.2.

 

Both are great motors, really the same motors, both should be tuned regardless.

I see your point here, but there are also some who don't have other toys (Basing this off your Sig comment :)). So, this is their toy....so you have to understand it from that point of view.

 

As an Auto Enthusiast, I like to modify just about every vehicle I get. I know this isn't a hot rod, but I still want my truck to be be as good as possible, both performance and looking. Also, everyone has their own taste and options.

 

I'll end with what my Son told me the other day, "Don't yuk someone's yum".

Great question for Carl.

 

I can tell you that my last two tanks have been 65% and 66% from Holiday gas station. At least that is what the dashboss is telling me.
