Diablo inTune - Question about AFM

Recommended Posts

I'm pretty sure they still release updates for the i1000, in which case it should still work with new trucks. A quick call to Diablo Customer Support should help! If not, DiabLew is a great help as well.

Sorry if this keeps being said but the helicopter pissed off rice burning v4 mode isn't just a figment or my imagination. That's good to hear. I got so pissed when I put a super 40 and that crazy sound, well sounded horrible. Definetely want to disable the v4 mode. Is there a way to do it without a programmer? Is there a programmer I can attach and turn it off and remove it? Any issues with warranty foot print evidence? Any one programmer better than the other without breaking the bank?

You can select M5 and the AFM will be disabled. It will be active if you shift up to 6th gear though.

Just a mention; You are aware that a tune will void your warranty. I noticed you have a 2015 & be will giving up a lot of warranty coverage to get that tune. Is it really worth doing? Only you can decide.

I read somewhere that the intune doesn't trip the counter when installing or removing the tune, so the dealer doesn't know if the tune has been removed.

This issue has literally been debated for years. Mostly on another site that I frequent. Basically, and this was put forth by a GM Tech, when a major drive train component fails, GM reviews the performance data log of the vehicle in question. If the data log shows that the vehicle performed outside of the OEM tune parameters, the warranty is void. It has nothing to do with flash counts or anything else. Every time you disconnect and reconnect your battery a flash count is registered, so a void warranty by GM based on flash count would be on shaky ground in the event of litigation.

Hey guys, have never owned or driven a tunes truck. Looking into the Diablo/diablew for my 15 6.2L. Has anyone had warranty claims denied? Or had the dealer ask if your truck has been played with? I wouldnt mind cleaning up the shitty factory trans setting but value my warranty more. I assume the only way they could find out is if the ECU had paramiters saved of the motor running at 6k for example? Sorry to hijack a thread but im just looking for peoples good/bad experiences at the dealer before i do it.

I have a DiabloSport i2. I bought it mainly to turn off the afm (v4 mode). I have read about how they accomplish v4 mode, supposedly it's

done by turning off injectors, coil packs, and limiting oil to the lifters of the cylinders they turn off. Now shutting off oil flow to lifters can't

be very good on the valve train. I have read about others having to get lifters replaced and so on. I don't want that to happen.

I worked in a Cadillac dealership back in the 80's. They came out with the 8-6-4 engine. What a piece of crap. Didn't run good, didn't shift good,

it was a terrible idea back then and it's terrible now. They used electric solenoids on the valves to cut cylinders out, controlled by a switch in

the transmission. Cadillac owners, being the rich, cocky guys they are say "I bought a v8, and I want a v8", I don't care what you have to do but

disable it. Back then it was easy. Unplug the wiring harness from the transmission, jumper two wires together, tape it up real good, and hang

the harness up so it wouldn't drag the ground, and presto you have a v8, which ran good and shifted the way it was supposed to. Cadillac

man happy...mechanic happy :)

The i2 will also cure the crappy shifting of your 6 speed, I don't think the 8 speeds are supported yet.

It's amazing the difference between stock and the tune I installed. Night and day.

My truck runs great, shifts when it's supposed to, and it just feels good, in town or on the highway.

The whole process of tuning took me about half an hour. You update it on your computer and take it to

your truck and install. Touch screen, easy.

The stock tune is saved and you can reinstall it anytime.

I haven't noticed any decrease in fuel mileage, and no ce light.

You still have stabilitrac and your towing options.

Look around on the net, you can get one for about 325,

and NO I'm not a salesman for the company.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying you should or shouldn't do it. The choice should be yours, it's your truck.

GM should put an on-off switch for the afm.

I agree 100% with the comments above. The warranty issue is a non-issue for me. I really believe that, ironically, using the aftermarket tune will probably be responsible for me not having to use my warranty. I can't believe that the way the OEM tune (mal) functions that it isn't doing more harm than good to my drive train.
