E load range on 265?

Recommended Posts

I will be needing some new tires for my truck soon.  I would like to find some LT265/75/r16 load range E tires.  What brands make them?

Also, what can I expect to pay for a new set of wheels (8 lugs).  I hate how my current ones look--rusty steel wheels.  Will the new HD wheels fit?  Where can I find truck wheels?

Thanks

Ryan

I would suggest Bridgestone's Dueler A/T revo. I switched out the stock tires on my new 2003 2500HD CC for 265 dueler revos. The stock tires were not even on for 24 hours. I do love these tires. They look cool and offer great all terrain performance. I ordered mine from tirerack.com. It was quick and hassle free. You can get a 265 75/R16 load range E for $145 a piece at tirerack.com.

There are plenty of choices available for 265's load range "E".  My Michelins are that exact tire...

You could consider a load range "D" in a 265 and would be fine.  If you read the carrying capacity on the sidewall, a "D" in a 265 tire has about the same capacity as an "E" in a 245 tire.  Unless you need more capacity than what you currently have, then a "D" would be fine, and it would open up alot more choices of tires.

I am running 265/75/16 load range D (8 ply) Cooper Discoverer A/Ts on my 1500 Silverado and have had no problems out of them. I dont really do alot of hauling or towing that a load range C couldnt handle but the place was out of C's so I got the D's for $99 a tire! The same goes for E and D, there isnt alot of difference unless you really max out the D's rating all of the time. I know a guy that has C's on his 3/4 ton ext cab dodge ram diesel. But he does no towing or hauling, seems like the truck might be a little too much for them though, who knows!!

Sigma (made by cooper tires) make a great product.  I am running a set of Stampede A/T LT255/85R16D on my 1500 (This is a narrow 33" tire)  This tire is available in a LT265/75R16E and a lot of other sizes up to a 35"  They have a great tread wear rating of 440 (the same as the top end Michelins).

Here are the specs on the tire: http://www.sigmatires.com/lighttrucktires/AT/index.html

Even with the way that I drive, they still look like new after 25K.  These tires are excellent in the rain, and quite capable off the road.  I paid $99 a piece from tire kingdom this past October, and plan to get a set of LT235/85R16E for my 3500 when the time comes for a new set of tires.

:banghead:

Thanks for the replies everyone.

I like those dueler at revos.  You say they do good in snow?  That is another factor I am considering in a tire because I do snowplowing with the truck.

I would prefer E's, but D would probably be ok too.  Right now they have C's and I have got to get rid of them (I didn't put them on).  I overload em all of the time.

Also, does anyone have any ideas on aftermarket wheels?

PS thanks for the pics Paul.

The Goodyear Wrangler ATS comes in a load range E in that size.

I bought the D's, since I didn't want to wait for Discount Tire to order them.  The D's were a bit cheaper, too.  I don't know what they currently go for.
