Heres the ticking noise I’m getting.. 2016 Sierra 28k. Different than what everyone else’s is reporting. Wtf

I have this same, slow tick coming from under my truck. Its very clearly from under the truck, and is not the valve train or injectors as mentioned in this thread.

Anyone else have or know more about this noise? I can post a video also, but it is exactly this same sound.

Thanks for the help

Mine is doing that same thing the clunk clinch clunk. 16 Silverado with 75k now has a weird noise coming out exhaust sounds like it has a turbo. Only under load not while revving it

I purchased a used 2015 Chevy Silverado LTZ Z71 Off Road, 5.3L, from a local dealership in the middle of January 2017 with 21400 miles, now 22800 mile. I never noticed the noise while driving the truck but when I was out of the cab with it running it sounds like it's more than a minor ticking noise. I took it back to get it checked out and the Service Manager at the Dealership said it was normal, took them a week to tell me that.

I'm not a mechanic but I'm having a difficult time with their analysis so I recorded the noise for others to listen to - https://goo.gl/photos/uof3kuzJuJ2y7sns6

I'm at a loss and this is a sound that shouldn't be coming from any vehicle with less than 25000 miles. Another thing is that I have noticed that the oil pressure shows 30lbs when warm and idling.

I know I’m coming in 4 years late, but mine is doing this EXACT same thing. Did you find a fix

Besides my reply from last night has any one seen a fix for this?

Welcome to the site.

Have you replaced the vacuum pump, or had the update done on it?

No I haven’t… but UPDATE and most likely the solve/culprit.

ok, I have a buddy of mine that works on Chevy fleet vehicles. Had him get under it today. Culprit is the torque converter guys… it has what he described as a “flaw” but not a fatal flaw. He said the torque converters on these trucks are notorious for rattle and whining. Meeting with him Saturday to do a fluid swap and an additive that is supposed to quiet the noise. He did advise me that these transmissions are notorious for going out at the 150,000-200,000 mark so be on the look out for that as well.

Hope this helps y’all, I’ll keep you updated after the fluid swap and additive are put in. My trans fluid needs a good swap anyway from the looks of it. There was supposedly a bulletin issued for this but I can’t find it. GM Blamed it on “over lubrication”. This is the same dude that I’ve gone to and diagnosed problems (correctly) over the phone in the past.

Did you ever get this diagnosed or determine what it is? Mine has almsot the exact same sound as the video you posted, sounds like it's coming from the bell housing or just infront of the transmission pan.  Hoping it's nothing to be concerned about?

I bought a 15 Sierra 5.3 4x4 about 6 months ago. I started noticing a tick coming from the engine in the passenger side. I took it to midas the mechanic said these engines are known for the ticking sound and that it's nothing to worry about. I had them do a motor flush to see if it would fix it and it didn't change anything. I also used Lucas fuel injector cleaner and that didn't fix it either. Does anybody know if it's something I should worry about? Any suggestions?

Where are you at with this? I have the same slow rotational tick/knock coming from the flex plate/torque converter area.... maybe this is normal on the 2016s? Seems to be a lot on here with the similar noise. I just bought it with only 49k miles on it. My 2013 did not have this sound.
