LIVE POST: Finding new roads in the 2016 Camaro SS

Recommended Posts

We're on a road trip! Today, Friday, & Saturday we're out on in the mid-west traveling from Minneapolis to Salt Lake in a 2016 Camaro SS.

Why are we doing this? As part of Chevrolet's Find New Roads Trip. The 2016 Camaro is visiting all 48 lower contiguous states in the US.

We just started off on our leg. We're driving on I-35 down through Iowa, west through Nebraska and Colorado, over the Rockies and then finally a jaunt north to Salt Lake. In all, we'll travel over 1,400 miles. This will be crazy!

Here's the car we're driving and how it's configured.

We'll post a ton of photos in this thread over the next three days. Stay tuned.

Well, we finally made a gas/pit stop. Iowa is pretty boring and I'm sure Nebraska will be as well. Our strategy is to get to Colorado tonight and get out of the plains as fast as possible.

We are continuing to traverse I80 through Nebraska. This is the most boring road I've ever driven. 550 miles down since leaving this morning!

We stopped for a quick photo at the Kerney Memorial Road Arch

We made it to Denver!

What a crazy long drive. We covered 910 miles from Minneapolis to Denver. We have never been in this area of the country before and wow was it beautiful!

Here's a few more photos

and the view from our room in Denver.

So what did we think of the car?

It's amazing! Smaller, much lighter, and more powerful. The 5th gen Camaro was infused with Corvette technology and this is the result. A super fast, super capable, under $50k car. The new Camaro SS is without a doubt one of the best cars I've ever driven. It was such a pleasure to drive, even on a long straight highway.

We rushed here so that we can enjoy Colorado tomorrow! All those mountain roads... We'll continue our live post Friday. Saturday we're still at it as we finish up our route and arrive in Salt Lake City, Utah. See you all tomorrow!

Good day everyone from Denver! We're about to embark on day two of our road trip. We stayed the night here and woke up to a snow covered I-70W. This has totally trashed our plans for the day as this SS has 20-inch summer performance tires. Whoops.

So, our new plan is to detour north around the mountains through Wyoming. Along the way we'll visit the iconic Stanley Hotel (inspiration for the Shining) and stay the night in Rock Springs, WY.

We'll be posting updates and photos along the way and as cell phone signal permits.

Alright, change of plans AGAIN. We are so bummed we couldn't drive over the Continental Divide today, we're staying the night in Denver to try again tomorrow.

We're back from a kick ass day driving around Denver, Boulder, and Estes Park, Colorado. We dealt with sleet at 7k feet.

Despite the altitude, we found the Camaro SS to perform with a level of refinement we've never expected from a Camaro before.

Our SS has magnetic ride and the dual mode exhaust system. With the push of a button you can drive a quiet, plush and comfortable touring car. Or, you can drive a loud, tight, raunchous muscle car.

Tomorrow we're going to tackle a 8-hour drive to Salt Lake City, Utah starting early. Our flight out of Salt Lake is at 5pm and we must deliver the car back around 3pm. Then we're on to Vegas for SEMA.

Here's a few pictures from my phone today. I have DSLR shots that I will process when I get home.
