LED Strobe Lights installed on 2015+ Silverado HD or 2014 + 1500

Recommended Posts

So I found some images to use as a "canvas" of what I'm thinking. Probably a little over board, and will modify my decision a few times, but for starters, here is what I'm thinking.

Big Thanks to K-Slo and his input/knowledge.

On the front, I'm thinking of installing the LED Hide away strobe kit I found on Amazon in the headlight casings. In the fog area, I'm really liking those lights K-Slo installed and recommended, and another pair of those on the Black plastics. I highlighted the strobe locations in yellow.

On the rear of the truck, so far, I'm thinking 4 more of those surface mounted lights along the Black plastic trim below the tailgate, and either another ( bigger version) just below the 3rd Brake light if I can't fit the LED strobe bulbs in the 3rd brake light. I would also install 1 pair of the LED hide away LED's in the taillight housing if not one in the reverse and one on the top red light.

Like a tatoo, I'm trying to draw out what I want before I commit to something.

Thoughts? Suggestions ?

Looks great, not overkill but I think that would be a very effective installation.

In the front the only thing I may suggest is something up high in the windshield, just a thought.

For the rear I'd order 4 of those Abrams LED's since you know you'll at least use them up front and test fit those in the rear. My guess is they 'should' fit below the tailgate without getting in the way of its movement just not sure I'd order 8 initially until that's verified. As for hide-a-ways in your taillights, were those white or amber you ordered? Only reason I ask is be careful installing the amber into the red portion of the housing, that will diminish your light output significantly - if it's white you'll be good to go.

Looks like a great setup!

Thanks, the strobes are white. Now I'm debating if I want to do all white or get those Abrams in Yellow to break it up a little.

I'd recommend running amber on the Abrams. The reason being is most places (you'll want to check local statutes) are beginning to require that no white lights flash when a vehicle is parked. This is seen more and more in fire apparatus, when the parking brake is applied the wig-wags and white lights in the lightbar turn off automatically - the goal being to reduce glare for traffic. Amber also tends to break through rain, mist and snow versus white creating a blinding wall of light effect.

There's also some scientific studies that have been completed to back the theory that amber is the most effective color for traffic warning, this one is a good read. Studies such as this are exactly why I have all three colors in the rear of my lightbar instead of dedicated red blue or amber.

My $.02 is to go amber all around for the Abrams LED's.

Looks like Abrams in Amber is what I'll do ! Thanks man, really appreciate it ! I'll be asking you how to hook them up so the Passenger side fog mounted light flashes with the drivers side front bumper one, and vice versa along with a switch to change the flashes. The Strobe kit I should be able to figure out, and that comes with a remote to turn them on and off, and select the flash control.

Look forward to seeing the setup! No problem, nudge me when you get them if I don't respond to the thread - I'll try to keep my eye on it though.

The Strobe kit came in. Looking at the kit doesn't look bad. I'm going to have my buddy who has a shop take a look this week at the headlight housing to see make sure they will work as intended in the housings.

If your going to plow i would not put anything lower than the hood or you will be getting alot of flash back at you the back looks pretty good.

Valid point, I was wondering about that myself this weekend.

I'm thinking about putting some Grill mounted LED strobes and connect them to the flash box from the strobe kit, and keep the ones I don't use as back up for the rears. Anyone have any thoughts to this. My installer really doesn't want me to drill open my headlights, and I can't blame him

Would like to out some on my 2015 1500 as well. Mostly for if I'm driving in snow storms or pull over to help someone or God forbid have a breakdown, be nice to throw some extra lighting on.

Lights are in, now waiting for the install. Here are the grill mountable LEDs. They have 4-3 watt lights in them! Should be very bright. d627ed68ac772578681995c79de5f9b8.jpg

To give some information. The plan was to have the mountable strobes sync and be controlled by the flash box, however the flash box will not send out a 12v signal. At this point, we are thinking of using the flash box to just change the patterns for the mount lights, along with the back half of the truck with the Hide A Ways.
