What shocks for rear of lowered truck

Recommended Posts

That is correct.

RT

As far as I know here are the configurations for drops with a flip:

7" with stock shackles and stock backets

6" with 1" lift shackle and stock brackets (Most kits don't have this shackle)

5" with stock shackle and aftermarket bracket mounted in the highest location

4" with stock shackle and aftermarket bracket mounted in the lowest location

RT can probably correct me if I am wrong, but I don't think you can do 6" without a new shackle.

Thanks for your help guys. Now I have cut off the bumpstop mount and put in small stops. I had to take it back to the dealership because it was sitting on the stops. Now it's off them like 1". When they cut them off the rear off the truck set a full inch lower than the front so I told them I wanted it level and they move the rear bracket down all the way and it brought it pretty close to lever. I'm a little confused on how to get the back up another inch or two.

Here is how it's setting now...said they had to drill the bracket and frame.

Also my shackle measures 4" between bolts so I'm assuming its stock

They installed the bracket upside down, that's why, lol. The shackle and spring goes from being above your stock bracket to below your aftermarket bracket, I'll go snap a pic of mine you can show them.

When the brackets are flipped back to the right orientation and you want a little rake put the bolts through the top bracket holes or add a longer shackle

RT

So if they turn the brackets the correct way and mount them in either set of holes one way I will have a 5" drop and the other a 7" drop is what I'm thinking. At 5" it would have a rake and 7" I would be in the same spot I'm in I believe.

Your axle is flipped right? If so they make a lift shackle to turn a 5/7 into a 5/6 drop so you can level it out. I know DJM makes one. Not sure about Belltech.

Yes look at the pic the Darth Vader took... the shackle is above the spring, stock the shackle was below the spring. Note the bolt holes in the bracket mounted t the frame two sets of holes 1" apart. that is your adjustment points and his is set at the lowest setting and you will install your bolts in the top holes.

So in darths picture that is set for a 5" drop and the other holes would make 6" or 7"?

Love the truck! What drop shackles did you use and did you take the block out? Rim/tire combo is nice. Do you mind if I ask what rim that is?

I leveled the rear and if I haul my 4 wheeler with a full tank of gas u can definitely see the back end drop a bit, it didn't really affect the headlights too bad ( although I may get some one to flash me everyone now and then cuz I run 6k HID). I am still planning on a air bag assist for the heavier loads

Is this the bracket I need to get to 6"?

Those will take you back down to 7" with the new brackets or would take you up to 6" with the factory bracket.

Just run the lowering brackets in the high mount location and you'll get 6", mine are in the 5" location.

I had it listed wrong, its:

7" with stock shackles and stock backets

7" with aftermarket bracket and 1" lift shackle (it acts as a lowering shackle on the after market bracket)

6" with 1" lift shackle and stock brackets

6" with stock shackle aftermarket bracket mounted in highest location

5" with stock shackle and aftermarket bracket mounted in the lowest location

I must of been thinking of the kit for my Tahoe.

Ok I got my truck back and this is how it is setting. The kit they used was McGaughy #34170 which shows 3/5 4/6 deluxe drop kit. When I went back to get it the first time they had the bracket mounted in the upper hole position on the bracket and it had a huge rake. I had them change it to the mounting position that it is in now and it has a little rake. What can I do to make it set a little more level?
