Something followed us home

Went to Dallas to have some pre-birthday fun with the wife last weekend. While there we stopped by the Audi dealership to see if they had any SQ5 on the lot. Our local dealer in OKC had one, but the salesman was not interested in showing it to us and to let us drive it. We mainly wanted to just see one and maybe get a test drive and then wait until after the new year so we could get into the new house before we picked one up.

Test drive went well, both of us loved the SUV. The salesman was an older guy and super knowledgeable about the Audi's and the SQ5. He actually was showing me how to get the most out of the performance on it and even took us on a road so we could open it up. Even still he knew we were just looking but would more than likely come back down after the new year for one. He said at least let me try to get your business now.

1st offer was a no go, our car was almost paid for and they just were not giving us anything for it. 2nd offer they were not playing around, they came up considerably on the trade to try and get us into the car. When we said its better but still not enough to get us to pull the trigger. He said give me the number you want, I gave them a number that I thought there was no way they would do. He came back with in $500 of my number, so the wife said sure lets do it.

So we are the new owners of a 2016 Audi SQ5. 355hp in AWD, 43xxlbs and let me say it gets after it like a bullet when you step on it. Found there is a huge aftermarket following for this little SUV. The engine is supercharged, with an intake kit, catback exhaust and just a ECM reprogram you can take it from 355hp to a little over 450hp. Step up to Stage 2 with a new supercharger pulley and another flash of the ECM and they are making over 500hp.

So now the mod bug has already started, 1st up with be a hidden receiver hitch, then in the intake tube and filter and a couple of suspension inserts. After that a set of lower springs to drop it 1" and then maybe the exhaust system. Not going to touch the ECM until well into the warranty period.

Nice ride! Although I don't see the need to "mod" such a classy German suv thats serving as a dd.

Why not, especially when simple mods provide nice gains in performance and handling. While it is the wifes DD it also has to suffice as the toy/pleasure vehicle for a bit so might as well have some fun with it while we are at it.

Nice! I have always liked those.

I have had issues with the higher end dealers in Tulsa also. Pretty stuck up and judgemental. One time They wouldnt even come out to talk to me until I walked up to talk to them. They think because you are driving X or looking at X that your playing games or can't afford or whatever. Was recently at a Porsche/MB dealer looking at a used car to use as a no-worries daily. I was wanting the price down further, car wasn't a nice as it was priced(had some dents) I could have walked out with a 911 if I wanted(and crazy, although I guess with today's 10 year loans anyone could, ), but I guess they figured I was in a 9 year old SUV, 30, with kids and looking at a 20k compact I wasn't worth the time.

My father had a relative that owned a waste business. You can imagine he didn't smell or look too great at the end of the day. Went to buy a new loaded HD, asked for a test drive...dodge salesman laughed at him. He pulled a roll of 100s out of his pocket, and told the saleman he missed on an easy sale, he already had the truck picked out. Drove across the street and bought the comparable Chevy

Oh I am sure they were the same way withy us the last time we went to look at the SQ5 while in Edmond at the Audi/Porsche dealer. I was in jogging pants as I just got done with a bike race.

Let them do it, sad thing is we bought it and now the local dealer has to service it. From what the dealer told us Audi doesn't play any games with dealers over servicing cars not bought at the dealership, unless the dealer can prove a valid reason they are required to service any audi brought into them.
