SleeperZ71
After owning and or driving nearly every model/bed length out there just wanted to see what you guys have to say. I'm a fan of the 6.6 but I would definitely want an 8.0 if it was a work truck. The 5.8 is sporty and obviously is easier especially when maneuvering in tight spots (we've all done the 3 point... back and forth...maneuver out of tight parking spots). Lots of choices out there especially with all the model options. What's your take: which bed length do you prefer and why?

mois93da
With my crew cab I would've preferred the short bed. But got the regular. No complaints though.
00Silverado4x4
Strictly going by bed size I vote for the 8 footers. In the case of extended/crew cab the 6.6 is best size for driving convenience.
NEFisher11
Wish I had an 8 ft. Stinks gm doesn't offer a half ton extended cab withe 8 ft bed anymore. One more reason to get a 3/4 ton truck next time

Chevyguy85
My '73 had an 8ft bed, 01 had 6.5' and my 06 has a 6.5'. I still miss having an 8ft. I'll never get used to not calling a 6.5' a short bed. To me whatever the other smaller one is doesn't exist. I like driving my dad's crew cab dually with a real bed. I guess since I never go into the city the whole "easier" to drive excuse never factors into it for me.
Chevor
I have a 9' bed on my cab and chassis.
Spurshot
I've had two 2500 extended cabs with 6 1/2 ft beds. I had a 5 1/2 ft bed on my last CC 1500. My current 1500 CC is 6 1/2 ft. I live in the burbs of SoCal where all the parking lots are designed for a Prius. Yeah, it's a pain sometimes. Most of the time I commute in it, the bed is empty. But when I use it to travel for hunting, it works better for me than the 5 1/2 ft beds. If I had half the brains God gave a frog, I'd buy a commuter car. 00Silverado4x4
ive always had 8 foot. now I wait to see how 6.6 work outs being my work truck is my personal I did pretty well with my previous 5.5' bed but now with the 6.6' bed it's been a huge benefit. Hopefully it'll be good for you too.
Big Whiskey
I voted for the 8" bed....although my last 4 trucks were 6'6" beds, haha. My first truck was a 8' bed, and it was nice to be able to put a tool box in it, and still actually have some bed space left. When I haul my 4-wheeler now, I have to leave my tailgate down, which I hate. And, when we pack for a camping trip, the bed gets full quickly. I'm really leaning towards a crew cab long bed 2500HD for my next truck. Probably 75% of the time, I don't need a crew cab or a 8" bed....but I hate making payments on something, and wishing I had something bigger/better. I live in a rural area, so the parking thing really isn't an issue for me.
newdude
I had two 8 footer regular cab HD's, then traded for a ext. cab 6ft 6. I went back to an 8ft and don't regret it.
Daly
At a minimum 6.5' bed, but I would prefer an 8' bed. I've always thought regular cab long box 4x4's looked the best lifted…
