DSG fart while shifting

Not really sure how to word this question. Audi and VW DSG transmission vehicles have a distinct sound when up shifting. They refer to it as the DSG fart. It sounds like a little blip/backfire between gears with the automatic shifts. What I can find is that it's from retarding the timing allowing unburnt fuel to be exhausted. As it self ignites from the high temps, it creates this sound. I seem to notice this type of sound when I'm WOT accelerating. The quick shifts from shifting at/near redline at least in 1st-2nd is where I find it happening. I don't really whoop on my truck much, so I don't know if it does it in all gears. I also wonder if there's a way to tune it to happen more frequently or at lower RPMS. Just wondering if anyone else notices this or knows why it happens. Thanks in advance

^what he said. I used to have a few 68 Chevelles and a 72 Stingray and all were blower cars. The last time I drove the Corvette it made that sound/feel right before it sneezed and blew the blowoff plates, two 600cfm carbs off and warped the rotors beyond repair. Now every time I hear/feel that little pause between 1st and 2nd my butt draws up un a knot. haha I guess I was traumatized. But on another note these trucks sound mean as hell with the rev matching when manual downshifting.

why would a catback make it stop pulling timing in the shift? might as well expect your new tires to keep your milk cold on the way back from the grocery store.

 

yes, the ECM retards spark during the shift, it has been this way for many years, the only difference is the new ECMs are much more sophisticated as are the transmissions and the spark is pulled and replaced more quickly and with better timing vs the shift.

 

everything can be adjusted in the tune.

why would a catback make it stop pulling timing in the shift? might as well expect your new tires to keep your milk cold on the way back from the grocery store.

 

yes, the ECM retards spark during the shift, it has been this way for many years, the only difference is the new ECMs are much more sophisticated as are the transmissions and the spark is pulled and replaced more quickly and with better timing vs the shift.

I know im not as informed as some of you on this site as I am an old Carb man that has to get used to all of this computer digitized stuff. But...I had no idea if the exhaust flapper valve, Flux capacitor, motor nueron calculator and I sure didn't know timing was part of it or what caused it but I am learning... I thought there was a little sarcasm thrown my way but all is good.
