12v power outlet at the tailgate???

On more than one occasion I have had a need to have a 12v power source located in the bed of the truck. It could be either or AC or DC or both. My father-in-laws 2006 Tacoma I believe has an outlet with both at the tailgate.

Any ideas out there on how to accomplish this? Anyone already done it?

This is for a 2014 CC LTZ.

I bought this dual plug one for $12 a few months back - and it has a power indication LED. It supposedly locks into the socket, but I don't know how well it would stay after a few bumps.

It will stay in just like any trailer connector would. It has a locking tab that the cover for the female receptacle holds onto. I see now reason to leave it in place when not in use.

I received the Pollak unit this week and it feels solid and works great.

The receiver outlet is always on so no need to have a key in the ignition.

It will come in handy for powering accessories on camping trips for our family.
