Fuel Maverick Wheels chipped paint and gouged?!

Should have's and could have's won't help you much, but for future purchases, always verify the wheels after tire installation for any scratches, I did that with my cheap-o OEM 17's when I had my Goodyear Duratracs installed.

Hate to say it but you're probably out of luck unless the shop is cooperative. You could always take it to small claims.

I'm probably SOL this time. I have always had good luck with this place and assumed if anything ever was damaged they would go good for it. I guess people nowadays don't run a business like I do. I always stand behind my products and my work no questions asked.

Give them a review on google maps and yelp, i did that when the tint shop i took my truck to totally ignored my "i want limo tint" request and the lady put whatever she felt would be "safer for me", wtf.

Like getting a salad when you ordered bacon but way more frustrating. Sounds like something a mother would do. You should make them replace the tint just like the tire place should replace the wheels. The Google map idea is also a good idea.

I understand it's been 3 days but every wheel had the same scratches in the same spots. It's clearly from the installation. I just never expected id need to look for scratches on my wheels at a place like this. I've done business with them for years and have spent thousands there. Im going to have to go see them when I get a day off. I work the next 7, so that won't help much.

If you took the pictures on the same day the pictures should have the date you took them

We see this all the time in Arizona, as a result of poor handling during install. Don't give into their denial. Speak to the Store Manager if needed and if you don't get anywhere with that, say you want to speak to their boss. The manufacturer doesn't send out wheels like that and it's not you responsibility to take ownership for purchasing defected products. Someone will foot the bill, just make sure it's not you!

Most likely the mounting shoe teflon was worn or missing when they mounted your tires.

I read every post wondering if any of you have actually mounted tires before...

El_Diablo FTW.

Ask for a demo of the machine. There is a hard rubber boot that sits on the lip of the rim to mount the tires, bring your cell phone and take photos of where the shoe and the tire rim meet(the underside of the boot), it will most likely be worn down to the metal. Thats what caused the scratches.

The gouge is where they swung the arm too hard and the boot smacked the rim, the scratches are from when the turntable spun.

(i may be speaking from experience :shakehead:)

Show that photo to the shop manager, there doesn't need to be a discussion. They need to replace your rims.

Next time I suggest finding a shop that uses a truly touchless tire changer such as the Ranger RX3040, it's worth the extra cost...

Touchless is the only way to go when you get into the higher end wheels where you can expect to pay upwards of $2k per wheel. For the OP on the other hand, call a wheel repair specialist or see who your dealership uses. The repair will be pretty affordable and they will look new again. You'll be able to get a quote to submit to the tire shop at the very least.

I emailed them again and will see what they say. Problem is they are the owners. It's a small off road shop. So far I've got the impression they don't give a rip and don't wanna go good for it. It's clearly the machine. It's on every wheel. It's clearly not curb rash or anything. It just he paint. If it was curbed it would be gouged way worse.

Got an email back. They asked if possibly me washing them gouged the paint on all four wheels lol. Ya I typically wash my brand new wheels on my brand new 50K$ truck with a chisel. haha.
