Paint Bumpers - vinyl wrap or plasti dip?

Recommended Posts

Was your truck an AT?

It is not. I originally planned to get the bumpers painted/powder coated, but there was just too much work required in removing bumpers and stripping them down.

Id like to wrap my bumpers on my bronze metallic GMC but I probably couldn't match that color.

would definitely be hard. I'd try calling a few of the local vinyl shops to see if any could print something for you to match it. I see you are from Lafayette, I can see if my buddy back in New Orleans can do it (he manages a vinyl/sign shop)

Yeah see what he says. This is something I would do myself just need the vinyl. But also if it crazy expensive then I just suffer with chrome.

What kind of prep did you do to your grill? What paint did you use? Did you use primer?

I scuffed mine with 320 grit sand paper and tried it with and without primer. I used summit white paint in a spray can from nappa. The paint comes right off if I run my finger nail over it. I dont see how it will last when I go to scrub bugs off.

Should I try and sand blast the the chrome of first? Should I used krylon fushin for plastic?

I wanted to get the grill wrapped but the one guy I took it to said it wouldnt stick because of the hard corners.

I did not personally paint the grill, that was handled by a body shop. You might see what they will charge if you remove the grill yourself, that's what I did.

Hows it holding up? If you run your finger nail over it will the paint come off?

I want to color match my bumpers. My truck is 'white diamond'...has anybody found a wrap that matches that color well or should I just plastic dip / paint them? I found some 'white pearlescent' on Amazon but not sure how well it will match my paint.

Did you paint over the chrome? If so how's it holding up? Also what offset are your tires with the fender flares? Nice truck man!

Thanks, wheels are +24 with spacers on the rear.

So far so good holding paint, few rock chips here and there but I take a road often that's under constructions and the stupid dump trucks full of gravel are everywhere

How difficult was the trimming for the quad fog light setup? That's next on my list
