Two weeks ago, I started to leave work and my truck started and ran for about a minute and died and has not started sense I noticed that the fuel guage was on empty and low fuel light was on. I had put fuel in the truck the day before and knew it was not out of fuel. I since have changed the fuel pump in the tank, fuel filter and crankshaft sensor. I have checked all fuses, relays and grounds. The fuel guage is still on empty and the truck will crank over but still will not start. Any thoughts?

A stock Duramax truck does not have a fuel pump in the tank, but you say you changed it. Stock, the CP3 pump sucks diesel from the tank and through the filter and then pressurizes it for the injectors. An added fuel pump that blocks (doesn't free flow) when it doesn't work or is not on would cause a problem.

When the fuel filter is changed you have to bleed the system. Stock, that means opening the bleeder and manually pumping it until diesel comes out, closing the bleeder, and pumping a few more times (and it should be hard at this point). With an added lift pump, you typically would open the bleeder and activate the pump to push fuel up through the filter and out the bleeder, close the bleeder, and then try to start.

Maybe somebody siphoned your fuel. The gauge stepper motor can fail, but if the light is on then you're probably out of fuel. Add 5 gallons of diesel and then re-prime. If the tank is empty, it won't prime.

If you don't really have a lift pump (or a pump in the tank that works), then any air leak anywhere in the fuel lines will cause loss of prime and it won't start/run. It may be very hard to find (if stock and no lift pump) because it doesn't leak . . . it sucks air.

You say you changed the crankshaft sensor which suggests you know your way around engines.
