4 wheel drive won't engage

I have a 2001 Yukon XL with 4 wheel drive (kind of). I've had it for about 8 years but the 4x has never worked. Where do I start? The buttons have never been lit up and nothing happens when I select a 4x mode. For the record it has a 5.3 vortec 8cyl and 214k miles. Thanks

Why not have it fixed 8 years ago? Take it to a 4x4 shop, that's your best option.

It could be anything, from a blown fuse to bad transfer case.

The thing I'd check first is the fuses, just to make sure. After that, a shop would probably be your best bet for repairs.
