Minor accident

Probably not worth the cost to fix($500 I'd bet), get a perfect match touch up paint, fill in the scratch as smooth as possible, then do a minor compound(several brands that work by hand(like meguiars ultimate compound), light enough that you wont damage the paint unless you do something stupid, then polish. That will smooth over the touch up so the shine matches the surrounding area. You'll still see it but wont stand out as much.

Me personally (as I have been through the same), clean it up, touch it up if it is deep, and treat as a beauty mark. By time my old truck was wrecked it had bumps and scratches all over it. I just touch up the bad ones (i.e. down to metal). The rest I chaulked up to being a truck being used as a truck.
