I do hate my neighbors!

My uppity neighbors filed a noise complaint at 730 on a Sunday evening during my daughter's fifth birthday party because they heard my dog barking at another dog. They tried to call anonymously but guess what? The cops have caller ID. They then pretended it wasn't them when the squad car pulled up. When confronted after the officer left (in a totally reasonable manner) they called again and said they felt threatened! Think the neighbors from Christmas vacation. Margot and Todd. They are in their early thirties. Wtf! They need to move.

That sucks, what part of IL?

My neighbors called the police because I fed their dog while they were gone on vacation. Their (30+ yr old) son was home the entire time & had his permission to do so. It was an older Rotweiler that I am assuming the asshats wanted to die while they were gone for two weeks. Regardless, squad car was here & a bunch of no trespassing signs went up. The insane part is we had been neighbors for 18 years & I politely listened to his long winded bs stories for years to well, be neighborly. Decided after that night, an a-hole gets treated as one from the start. Good graces accomplish nothing these days.

That's the absolute worst type of neighbor to have, a cop caller. I mean calling and complaining for every little thing you ever do. Trust me, the officers and the dispatchers will get tired of the nonsense after a while and they will be told to stop calling. After that if they continue calling for nonsense, they can be cited themselves. Hang in there and don't get yourself in trouble, things will work out. They can try to file whatever type of complaint they want. As long as you are not extremely loud after the local curfew, there is absolutely nothing that can be done.

Crazy!! What goes around comes around.

I had a party once and the neighbor just came over and said, well if I can't sleep might as well join in!! The other neighbors were already there. Free drinks for all. LOL!!!!!!

He moved to Cali a few years ago. Fun cat!!

What's the noise ordinance in your area? In mine, 7:30pm on a Sunday night is out of the ordinance.

I have one neighbor (to my right) who called the police because my cars were loud. An officer came to the door and, while chuckling, explained it to my wife and asked if any of the cars had non functioning exhaust system. The E36 M3 had Borla, the C5 Z06 had Magnaflow, the Impreza Outback and the S13 240SX were stock.

I was pissed enough that I told my friends (with modified cars) who come to visit EVERYTIME to rev their engines to *at least 5000 rpm* while in the subdivision. One guy with an FC revved his beyond his tach, he predicted somewhere between 8000 & 9000 rpm, in 1st gear. The neighbor across from me is the opposite, he said that if it's not a big block V8 with open headers, it's not loud.

Only time I ever called the police was about 5 days after the neighbors house was built and a contractor abandoned his $500~ car in front of my house(called after 5 days). Not worth fixing I guess. A few weeks later is disappeared, never found out who had it hauled off.

They did nothing when I called(it wasnt even legally parked!), so I jacked the front up (fwd) and tried rolling it back from in front of my house to in front of neighbors house. It fell off the jack.. Not sure if I did any damage or not, didnt look like it. At least I got it off the curb!

It sucks to have a bad relationship with a neighbor. I used to have a problem with one. I have great neighbors all the way around now. Try to fix it. Letting it escalate is what crime TV shows are made of.

This is where I would start. If there is no governing ordinance, there's nothing they can do unless you're being unreasonably loud and unruly. Continue to make noise and such to get them to call and complain. Then, file a harassment grievance against them for constantly sending the cops to your house without merit. Their complaints wouldn't hold up in court while yours would. And they could actually end up getting a suit filed against them by the police department for filing false reports.

Really want to piss 'em off? Try one of these. For some odd reason it seems to work even better at 3 in the morning.

Keep the ideas coming. :fart:

I read all sorts of things when I went through my deal. But the last story I read was where two neighbors spent roughly $110,000 in legal fees fines etc one upping on another over their dispute.

To the op. Would expect Margot & Todd in Chicago area(perfect reference btw) I live in a small town in central IL. that is primarily live & let live. Would have never dreamed he would have crossed the line

of calling the Police vs talking to me about feeding his dog. I hate the whole family now for sure, but not worth court issues.
